Safe to buy fleet vehicle?
Anyone know about fleet vehicles? I'm looking at a 2003 s2000 (80k), and it's listed as a fleet vehicle on carfax. I checked the car out, and it's owned by an elderly man who garaged it and only put 4,500 miles on it in just over a year. He said that he bought it from someone who worked at Apple, and it was a company car or something? what do you guys think? any experience with this?
btw, i checked the car out and drove it, everything seemed fine. only issue so far is a replaced front fender, which his wife was responsible for.

i agree with Choku Dori and Gibs, its not a good idea to buy fleet cars..fleet cars get thrashed, mashed on, accidents, etc..i seen people go from the drive gear and drop it in park while still in motion..and thats in a ford ranger, i cant imagine what people would do in a s2k

yes do not buy it. i drive a fleet vehicle for my company and it gets treated like crap.
me and 2 other guys use it and it is always abused and maintenance is never done on time.

I dunno... S2000 doesn't sound like typical "fleet" material. Not like it's a truck or Ford Focus used for deliveries or something.
Sounds more like an Executive Car, that still would have been bought through a fleet program. I know the cars here at work in the "fleet" get routine maint on a better schedule than I do my own sometimes and all driven by a bunch of old men. They'd be a great buy.
But yeah, if it was a delivery wagon, hell no.

It depends whose fleet it belonged to. The organization I work for beats up it's vehicles, but they are also on a very strict maintenance schedule, and all repairs needed are performed in a timely manner regardless of cost.
