Sac area: Mosquito Ridge Rd drive/meet - Memorial Day
Greater Sacramento area subaru enthusiasts, let's get together for a drive through Mosquito Ridge Rd on Memorial Day.
For those of you that haven't heard of Mosquito Ridge road, it's an amazing twisty mountain road that goes on for many miles. I've heard it's one of the best such roads in Northern California. One end of the road is somewhere in Folsom, and it goes all the way up to Auburn near the American River north fork. (Near that humongous bridge that they filmed that flying corvette scene for the movie XXX.)
Let's meet early to avoid as much traffic on the road as possible, getting stuck behind grandma in the twisties doesn't make for a fun drive.
Time: Monday morning, 7am...
Place: Somewhere in Folsom near that end of Mosquito Ridge (help me out here guys)
Anyone interested? Suggestions?

That might not be the best of days to go up there... Extra traffic, perhaps folks going up there to camp, perhaps additional police pressence, and perhaps a bunch of motorcylcists going up there too...

Hi, Jeff. Just to clarify the date of the proposed meet/drive, it's Monday 26-May-2003, the traditional Memorial Day Holiday. I mention this because the other thread mentions both the 24th and the 26th while Memorial Day itself is actually the 30th. The Memorial Day Holiday falls on the Monday previous to the actual Memorial Day. Hope that makes sense.
I'd like to meet at 07:00 in Folsom, place to be determined. Bemani posted in the other thread about taking Salmon Falls Rd, Hwy 49, Old Foresthill Road, then on to Mosquito Ridge Road. We can figure out a place to grab breakfast or else we can bring along snacks/sandwiches for later.

This Mosquito Ridge Rd meet/drive is on. See NASIOC thread to help us decide (vote on poll) what time to meet and figure out the best place to meet, probably in Folsom. Breakfast would be nice, but since some of the others don't eat breakfast (huh??) I can pack a lunch.

This should be a great run. Some of the guys have done this drive before and know the way. It's scenic as well, being situated in the Sierra foothills. The last few times that i-Clubbers went, they hit a dead end in the road due to unpassable snow (too deep even for AWD without snow tires). Weather should be good that weekend (but if it were raining I'd still go as long as one or two people could show me the way). Someone will probably bring a camera and post group pics after the drive.
What better way to spend a holiday enjoying nice scenery, great people, and some mighty fine machinery.
