Shell's product spec sheet. Its been said many many times here. Shell has published that T6 is not recommended for gas motors with a catalytic converter.

Use whatever oil you want, don't give a **** one way or the other. HOWEVER if you run t6, know there is a chance you will **** your catalytic converters up.

 

Dude. Burning any type of oil will cause catalytic converter damage. Why are you selectively singling out one type of oil?

 

again, read manufacture specs.

Do you burn oil excessively out the exhaust? If no, then smog away...

It's not like other oils have ZERO phosp to hurt a cat in a car that burns oil.

 

A lot of companies say things are not recommended for certain things. It helps them avoid lawsuits.

People use all sorts of crap that aren't necessarily intended and/or recommended for their vehicles. Technically pretty much all of us are running tires that are not within manufacturer recommended specs.

People run different weights in their car... non factory recommended but it's known to work.

A lot of people use Rotella in cars and motorcycles because it works. Is it necessarily a great thing for our cars... hell if I know. I don't run it. But it's probably better than a lot of other oils people use. If anything it's not as good for subarus because our turbos don't need it like some others. IHI turbos and similar aftermarket turbos don't benefit from it.

Me personally... don't run it. I run a few different brands of oil.

 

I couldn't care less about the cost of T6. No where in any of my post have I even mentioned the cost of T6.

 

Lol no i wasnt worried. Just everyone posting its going to burn my cats up. I dont burn oil. Only when i used quaker state in my ranger and it self destructed after 1k miles lol.

Passed with flying colors.

 

For me I like rotella as a budget oil, Amsoil is better I use it for my diff, tranny, and of course engine oil. I recently bought a super cheap forester, the lady had no idea about the car, there was some sludge when changing it ran rotella for around 1k - 1,500 miles got the car a lot cleaner an ran amsoil afterwords it works pretty darn good now.
