what is this tab thing you speak of? i found the other threads (as i searched i-club for my previous question...) about how the window clamps will eff the plastic window liner, but i plan to keep my rack on year-round, so i figured i'm screwed anyways.

thanks for the input guys - i'm going to grab one and try it out.

You guys should have been riding with us all last winter + this summer.

Did Northstar and Mammoth this year and can't wait to go back. I even picked up a VPFree just for shuttle and resort riding. Good stuff!

I have a yakima rack. When I had it on my civic I had my DS bike and my brother SC fully on the roof. Was doing in the neighborhood of 130mph with the bikes up there. They'll hold. I've run over 100 with boards on my roof more than a couple times. Just have to load em right and tight.

hey, not to hijack this thread, but this would be a good place to ask a relevant q...

anyone have the Thule rack with the air splitter? i just put my rack and it's pretty noisy at highway speeds (droning noise, mostly).

is the air splitter worth it?
i have the thule rack without the fairing and i barely get any wind noise

Yikes! This is how I initially read it! Sheesh, Ray! Have you no compassion?!? Luckily, I slowed my roll & got what ya actually wrote.

Back in the day... probably the start of my 3rd season... just after making the left outta Northstar to head back to Truckee, some nimrod didn't have his gear secured. What a crazy scene to be cruising along to see a snowboard get airborne off the top of some fool's SUV, go whirling overhead, and then tumbling passed us well-beyond the shoulder. Fortunately I wasn't following too closely, but it was just NUTS to witness that.

SuperLiftTicket™ card must be presented at Participating Resorts Lift Ticket window. Valid photo ID required. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer. No Cash Value. Non Transferable. Valid only for the 2007/2008 winter Season.

Also, I recall a ways back that there was talk of getting a group together to make a trip to the slopes and using this ticket deal for just that. Now that we've got the dates that are valid, let's hear your thoughts on when? & where?

Based on the dates alone, the week of 07 Jan - 11 Jan [option B] sounds good for a couple reasons. We should have decent coverage by then, meaning more of the mtn will be available (as opposed to going at the start of the season as in option A). Also, I know a buncha folks are students, so it'll either be the start of the quarter (it may be time for midterms during option C) or it'll still be winter break btwn semesters.

I can't really say where yet. I just want a place with the most variety of terrain open. Most of the spots valid for that week are good, imho. Each have their pros & cons. I've ridden all except Diamond Peak.

So let's see what y'all think.

As visions of snow-bunnies danced in their heads...

for those that have gone to tahoe for many years, what does thanksgiving normally look like? we're planning a trip to heavenly thanksgiving but if there is not much snow that might get scrapped. think it's worth it to go around that time?

If there is even enough snow...I did Heavenly last season around Christmas, like the 29th or so, only 6 lifts open...i figured that would be enough...NOT...basically 2 runs to choose from, no room for carving...and skipatrol would threaten you if you went too fast. So be careful and make sure that there are enough lifts open by Thanksgiving.

Heavenly is good for non-holidays HAHA their lines move fast though, and lots of lifts and acres to spread everyone out.

Heavenly is so convenient now, being close to town and the gondola that goes into town, you might be better off picking any other resort to have less crowds

Sorry, I haven't gone on Thnx wknd many years ago. But my 1st few seasons, I always got a crew together for day trips on the Friday immediately after Turkey day. Back then, I didn't care too much that there wasn't very much of the mtn open & it was always crowded as hell. I'd use comp. vouchers that were only valid early (or late) season anyway, so the monetary cost was minimal. Then the novelty of hitting the slopes on the 1st or 2nd week of operation wore off b/c it just wasn't worth my time in doing the round trip & in having limited access to the mtn.

If your trip in w/ family, y'all are better off maybe driving down the coast to Monterey/Carmel, maybe Big Sur. But again, keep your eye & ears peeled for conditions up there as soon as we start getting more precip, or temps stay cool enuff to make snow. Hope this helps, bruddah.

turkey day is usually bad, not enough snow. it may be worth a shot due to this semi-early winter we have seen. granted weather has been nice this past week, but "la nina" is suppose to hit early this year.

planning around snow weekends in CA is useless...better luck playing the lotto. good luck though

It'd work better if you had your project done. My best friend is coming into town this weekend, but I have some time free while he attends a wedding in the Napa Valley. I'm leading him to Trinity, then sending him over the mountain to his wedding, then have ~5 hrs. to come on over and "mentor"...
