I dunno about y'all, but I've been jonesin' to shred even though the snow level for Thurs' storm is forecast above 8000ft... prolly closer to 9000ft. I'll be watching closely cuz I'd like to get a warm-up sesh in at Boreal on Fri. Fifteen dolla holla on Fridays!!!
Otherwise, I'll wait till next week and use one of my SnowBomb freebies to ride midweek at Sierra.
Bear currently doesn't have enough terrain open. Plus, they're only running on wknds.
And cuz I was curious... same with China Peak. But they should be OK by mid-Jan. *crosses fingers*
And yeah, Ray, they average about 5ft less snow a season than Bear. The site I looked at for comparables also said that China Peak was open about 20 less than Bear too. Still, I'm hopeful for this winter.
And can't complain about a lift ticket that costs $FREE.99, right?

Heard it's gonna stay on the 80 side. Bear shouldn't get much if any. But they'll probably blow snow through the whole thing if it gets cold enough.
Bear is nearly pointless until after christmas. China Peak is pretty dope on powder days. I'm looking forward to it.
I need to sell some isht so I can buy some isht.
Guess I should take a picture of that board and toss it on craigslist.

And although, I generally avoid riding with the holiday crowds, I'm considering a day trip btwn Xmas & New Year's. And Sierra's among one of the spots I'd wanna hit. I'll keep my eye on any updates for your potential trip on the 28th. And I'll post up my status as well.

Yo, Jeff or anyone else who's been up over the last few days....
How about a conditions update? Has the rain that's been drenching the slopes made for some sketchy conditions?
My understanding is that with the next storm cycle coming thru this week we'll see high snow levels again. So another dose of wintry mix.

Just wasn't good enough conditions and enough runs open to make it worthwhile. I ended up hitting the skatepark for 3hrs today and now my legs are paying for it haha.
At this point I'm shooting to get up on the 18th whether its BV or Kwood or N*... I need to get a day in before the end of the month cause after next weekend I won't have time till Jan 7th/8th to go up.

Rainy mess right now @ kwood.
I'm planning to head there on Sunday and probably freeze my @ss off as temps look like they're gonna be 10-15 degrees on the low end.
Long as it doesn't rain Friday it should be an OK day to ride, but far from the greatest lol.

Hit up Kirkwood for my first day of the season yesterday! Felt soo good to be back on my board. Conditions really were not that bad. I was expecting an icy block but the surface was still soft enough on top and firm underneath which made for some good groomer smashing. Was about 19 degrees in the morning and got to around upper 20s during the day, sunny out and wind was minimal so it was not nearly as cold as I had anticipated. My day mostly consisted of going up The Reut, across to Caples Crest... up & down Caples multiple times then back all the way down from Caples to the lodge, and repeat. Went up Cornice express once and left it alone after that due to moguls, never bothered with The Wall since coverage looked like it sucked up there. Backside just opened today after looking at the website.

So nothing but snow piling up since Tuesday and no one riding. Closed today and tomorrow as well. First ay open will be Friday.
I'd go if I could. I played hooky last week and I've got monday off to take care of my kids. Between that and the ribs... don't think the wife will approve.
But it'll be a day of legend for sure. One of the best days in the last 10 years. I'd highly recommend staying close to a line of site. The tree wells are gonna be deep and wondering too far off path really won't be necessary until Sat afternoon. LOL!
Oh and Steve... so far no go with Union. Got one more source to try.
