I had to change my plans at the last second and I ended going up to K-wood yesterday instead of Saturday. It was super icy and the crowds were ridiculous. Probably the largest or second largest crowd I've seen in the fifty or so trips I've taken there. I saw lotsa people with Heavenly season passes. I was actually there with two heavenly pass holders. I think our hidden gem is no more. We still made the most of it though.
With large crowds comes all the beginners. I had a noob cut me off on my last run (not really his fault). I over compensated and caught my front edge. I face planted at 30 mph, went head over heals, and skidded for about 50 feet. Not fun on ice.

I went up saturday and was planning to stay sunday too... for some stupid reason I decided to use my kirkwood pass to go to heavenly.. reminded me why I hate that mountain, super super crowded and stupid short runs.. even mott was crowded!
was hella warm too like 60 degrees.. had to pick up a set of rims in truckee and on the way back passing Boreal my girl asked what resort is that and we decided to stop and give it a try... first time at Boreal and it was awesome.. I got more skiing than I did at heavenly and the snow was very decent.
I might go up wednsday and thursday of coarse to the wood!

Rode Bear on Sunday. It wasn't that crowded thankfully. The trees still had some stuff left, but it was definitely warm. It turned to soup by 12. I sprained my finger hitting a tree, oh well. I love to thank Never Summer for making a killer board. Even in the slow soupy mess, I was carrying some good speed.

I was at Boreal on Saturday and it was warm. It was still pretty nice since Friday was still cold. I can only imagine how icy and hard Sunday would have been.
Boreal is our resort right now, cheap and the right skill level for my kids. My daughters (6 and 10) are riding now. Six year old is about get S turns and the 10 year old is now going in the park and taking little jumps. She even went in the half pipe, no air just carving up and down the banks... awesome.

I went on a solo mission to Dodge Ridge last Friday. It had snowed a few inches the night before. Snow was excellent. Bluebird conditions. No one was there. No lines at all. But around Noon time, the snow got extra slushy. And it got super hot out. After lunch I took about 4 more runs, each time the snow got worse and worse. Around 2pm, I had to call it quits. The snow was unrideable. I basically came to a stop going downhill and had to use my backside edge to get me to the lodge.
