While the snowfall potential on Tues & Wed are supposed to be less than today's, the wind is forecast to pick back up on Wed.
Thursday looks to be the best day to blast the pow! I'm hoping the wind gusts that day are manageable b/c I've got KW locked into my crosshairs. Twice so far, on the day I had hoped to kick off my season, we got some serious dumpage! Bittersweet. Hooray for snow! Boo for terrible driving & riding conditions! Double thumbs-down for resort closures... sux if y'all were among those who tried to brave it today.

Ya the wind might be the biggest problem.
Pulled this off Kirkwood's custom weather report for Wednesday
S/ SW at 20 to 30 gusts to 45mph. Winds above 8,500 feet; SW at 30 to 45 gusts to 70mph.
I read that today into tomorrow the wind gusts on the higher ridges can get up to 100mph. Thats crazy

got there... actually ended up getting stuck in the parking lot... about 5-6" of snow... thank fully a group of 5-6 people from 2 subies actually came out to my rescue. doubt they're on the forums as they didn't have a clue to what my car was..... but big thanks to them for helping dig my car out of the snow and giving it a little nudge to get going.
found out too late that kirkwood was closed. when i got there, sounded like they were setting off dynamite on the hills to trigger controlled avalanches.
got stuck on the 50 for over an hour cuz of a downed powerline. was thinkin about turning around and heading up to north tahoe and taking the 80 from there... but its over an hour just to get there in the conditions like today and i saw about 5+ traffic incidents along the 80. said forget it and just waited it out for the 50 to be opened again.
