West Sacramento, Wyotech. Right now, I'm making a frame in my class and I can't really afford to miss time. After that I'll be helping my buddy in my class who has a bugeye make a complete front subframe brace and center bracing, and possibly some vented skid plates

i dont even have M+S tires, my tires look like they could be snow tires but they are actually street legal race tires. they are bridgestone potwnzas, these special models that were disscountinued. i get through the chain control fine every time (knock on wood). but i still do carry cables in my trunk just in case
On my old rs I had some RE960AS and those were fuccin amazing in ice/snow conditions.
Here is my tread pattern.

Lmao, that's sick. but if CHP caught you that would've been an automatic ticket from what my buddy told me from his experience. Do the road guys ever ask for proof of chains? I'm really hoping on taking my subie up instead of the Dodge turbo diesel. haha WAY LESS GAS MONEY

No. The road condition that requires chains is R-2, which says AWD and M+S tires don't need chains. I read on their site last year, the only chain control condition for which AWD + M+S tires need chains is R-3, and it said that they generally just close the road before they will issue R-3 condition so you pretty much never need chains.

From CalTrans website
What are the R-1, R-2 conditions that I hear about?
Although Caltrans does not post signs with these designations nor use them to announce chain controls to the public, they are used internally within Caltrans and the CHP as a kind of shorthand to describe chain restrictions and may be included in traffic reports disseminated by various news outlets.
There are three primary categories of chain restrictions, as shown below:
R-1: Chains are required on all vehicles except passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks under 6,000 pounds gross weight and equipped with snow tires on at least two drive wheels. Chains must be carried by vehicles using snow tires. All vehicles towing trailers must have chains on one drive axle. Trailers with brakes must have chains on at least one axle.
R-2: Chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel-drive vehicles under 6,500 pounds gross weight and equipped with snow tires on all four wheels. Chains for one set of drive wheels must be carried by four wheel-drive vehicles using snow tires.
R-3: Chains are required on all vehicles without exception.
R-1 and R-2 are the most common conditions. A highway will often be closed before an R-3 condition is imposed. Some local areas may use variations of these designations. You must follow the directions on the signs posted for chain controls or any instructions given by Caltrans or CHP personnel at chain control check points, even if these are at variance with broadcast road condition reports or information contained herein.

I was supposed to head to reno tonight, stay there, then board northstar tomorrow but having issues with my tires. I had a bubble in one of the sidewalls and had to replace the tire at america's tire co. my problem is that now 3 tires have 19k of mileage on them and 1 brand new one.
Anyone willing to rent me your snow/all season tire setups? I can leave my g-forces (and cash if needed) as a deposit?

So I took 1 run and left. Way too ****y to have any fun.
If anyone is planning on coming up to ride tomorrow, I wouldn't waste your time or money.
Wait until we get at least a foot.
