went there last season and I liked it. It was smaller than the typical resorts I go to (sierra, N*, squaw, etc) but I liked the trails. It was definitely more of a locals place but I would definitely hit it up again.

Going to be at Sierra tomorrow and Kirkwood Sun. Send me a message if anyone is going to be out there. I wouldn't mind meeting some other i-clubbers.

Where you trying to go this weekend boardoholic?
I'm hitting up both spots!

More on Homewood... it's roughly the size of Bear Valley. I don't know if you got a chance to ride Bear's lower mtn (Snow Valley & Grizzly Bowl), but it easily makes up at least 1/3 of its total acreage (I got a few runs down there a couple weeks ago! ).

Back to HW... looking at their trail map & recalling my handful of times there, the goodies off their express chair reminds me of Sierra's West Bowl or N*'s backside chair. That Ellis chair is ridiculously slow (a la Dodge Ridge's Exhibition chair or BV's old backside chair). As mentioned, it's a great locals spot w/ a Ma & Pop feel. Lots of fun terrain once you get familiar w/ getting around the mtn!

**EDIT** Just read one of your earlier posts & saw that you just got bit by the shred bug. Congrats! Hopefully, over the next few seasons you'll get to experience some of these lifts, terrain, etc. I babbled about. Unless, of course, you've switched fr: skiing & already have some winter slide-time under your belt.

dont go to Homewood unless it just snowed that week, it get lots of afternoon sun and turns to ice right quick, also its a bit lower then most resorts, so it doesn't see the deep stuff as much. But its a great place to find hidden pow with no tracks, if you go on a weekend a few days after a storm
Oh yah, and the chairs r painfully slow..

Haha yeah I got bit by the shred monster pretty bad. Been wanting to snowboard since I was 8 but either no one I knew knew how to or I never got up to the snow. Now I'm trying to go as much as possible. Gotta make up for all those wasted years haha Was hoping to hit up HW Sunday but no one I know is going and my cars reliability isn't where it should be for that distance.

How bad is N. Star these days? I pretty much only go to Mt. Rose and Alpine Meadows these days. I'm thinking of using one of my 2 for 1 vouchers on Sunday at N. Star, but is it even worth paying half price there? I seem to remember it being very crowded and not much exciting terrain...

Went to Northstar a month or so ago on a Friday and it was pretty packed. We were generally in line for about 30mins each time. Went to Sierra last Friday and was in line for 2mins max, although it did snow half the day and it was coming down pretty good. It was my first time going to Northstar and I did like it however I'm not a fan of waiting in line for that long in the sun. Especially when it's $84/ticket.

Cool, thanks. Can't believe tickets are $84! Even at half price that's a lot.

I went to Mt. Rose on Saturday and it was epic. Almost two feet of fresh powder from the night before, $52 lift ticket, and tons of virgin powder all day long. Oh, and no lines. I'm just a little burnt out on the place, but you can't beat it, especially since it's 30 minutes from downtown Reno.

Northstar is the place to go if you're into hitting the park, other than that I would reccomend Sierra. Sierras parks are good right now too though (maybe I'm a little Sierra biased, not gunna lie)

^^I really enjoyed Sierra, seemed a bit hassle free and definitely not as crowded as Northstar. Can't wait to hit up Sierra Friday with my new boots, don't think Ill try out the new-to-me board till next year though

What deck did you pick up? I say, "Ride it, brah." If you're worried that coverage is getting thin, we ain't got nothing to worry about there. Actually, the mtns could get 3" - 7" of fresh fr: tonite thru 2mrw evening. Boards are meant to be ridden, not look at & think, "Oooh... pretty."

I'm heading up Fri as well. Prolly somewhere inexpensive since I'm treating my nephew out to a day on the slopes.

I picked up a Lib Tech Dark Series deck that the gf wasn't too thrilled about. Ill probably use the GNU CHB this Friday since there is a chance of fresh snow, and use the Lib Tech if things are getting thin and icey since it has the magnatraction. IDK maybe I'll use it this Friday, I love the GNU CHB so no complaints there

I got another email reminder about the Burton Sample Sale this Sat, 27 Mar, in Oakland. When I got the 1st notice a couple weeks ago, I thought I had already posted the info here. Since I hadn't, here it is:

I've already got plans for Sat, but may swing by toward the tail end, esp. if there's a chance to meet the model in the ad.

I was up riding at alpine on the 18 and 19th. Sweeeet in the afternoon, the sun was out and it felt like spring and it never got slushy enough to slow you down. Plus the beer taste better when its hot out at the end of the day
