I'll be going up with the lady Saturday, but she'll be back at the lodge working on school work. I'll know for sure hopefully by tonight where I'm going. Probably North*, then heading to Reno for the night. I'll be looking for someone to shred with.

Boardoholic is spot on!!!! MAMMOTH LAKES, CA! Only a short 4.5hrs drive from Roseville! The place goes off to say the least...we only wish we would have hit it on a powder day...the possibilities are endless!
We go every year and usually stay at Chamonix but this year we mixed it up a bit and hit this pimp place called Solstice.
Pimp fashion mixed with sick function!

Hmmmm.... good call. Plus, N*'s rails & boxes are typically yellow w/ some black (a la Caution tape). [sarcasm]Such inept guesses by these rookies, right?[/sarcasm]

Oh.... I'm looking to do a powder-hunting day trip 2mrw. I've got my sights set on Squawllywood (a friend of a friend & his buds are on their way to North Lake now w/ plans ride there 2mrw). But if the roads are a complete Charlie Foxtrot in the morning, I'm prepared to save time & to switch my target to Sugar Bowl if it's really slow-going.
Anyone wanna caravan or meet up out there?

Just checked Squaw's & Kirkwood's live on-mtn camera feeds, and I'm seeing a lotta snow/rain mix (which is consistent w/ the radar rtns I've been looking at, too). Where's the blue/pink/purple to indicate snowfall?!?
Hopefully, the snow levels drops to the expected 5000' & lower real soon. Their current snow report shows that they, like most other spots we can assume, have shut down the lifts to the upper mtn areas. That means if you can get out there 2mrw, there will be an @$$load of untracked!!!
I was planning to leave fr V-town at 0530, but I move it up an hr to beat a TON of folks up there! I'm greedy w/ freshies like that. Remember, there are no friends on a powder day!

they said the front of this storm is very warm and tropical but by 4 the cold front will move in, when i was watching the new b4 I left for work at 7am it was freakn 45 in south lake, hopefully that will change
I am taking the ski bus at 4, you'll proudly beat me but I get to sleep on the way up....

Hmmm...definitely was some warm, tropical air ahead of the storm b/c the snow was very wet & heavy. The conds were so variable throughout the day--decent visibility to terrible to good, decent powder pockets in the trees to water-logged, tracked-out chunks--depending on where & when you were on the mtn.
Left Vjo @0520, stopped in Sac to top off my tank & pick up my buddy, then pulled into our parking spot exactly 3 hrs later! A quicker & easier drive up was the only benefit to the much higher snow level.

Oh, and I'm looking to ride Bear Valley on Fri & maybe Sat so, Ray, I'll be hitting up Jordan as my plans firm up. I ain't rubbin' it on on ya, just giving you a heads up, soon-to-be proud papa!

wow the snow sucked this weekend, I have never seen so much heavy powder in my life. Tons of fresh powder through the trees with no track, it was fresh with no tracks because no one could ride though that heavy stuff. BTW I was at northsatr, anyone else have this problem?
