I picked up North Face's Free Thinker II Jacket and pants last season, two words: bullet proof. You can jump in the shower with this set up and not get wet.
I get back to the bay from Hawaii next Monday. I plan to head to Tahoe on Wednesday for a few days. I love my life.

Squaw was INSANE yesterday!!! PowChow all around. KT, Shirley, Solitude, C2, & Red Dog were spinning. Good runs off Solitude/C2. I also saw Jeremy Jones hit the Eagles Nest on C2. Another guy took off Skiier's right from Eagles Nest and broke his back... airlifted out... Have fun with all the pow out there! Storm coming in next week again! Hit me up if you wanna ride Squaw!

+1. Yetserday, mucho traffic on 89 southbound due to 1st chair powderhounds like me. We exited off 80 around 8:10 then didn't get to our parking spot @Squaw til 8:45ish. My buddies who left from the North Shore stateline area a bit later said traffic was just as bad (if not worse) coming up northbound on 89.
Despite the insane crowds, I had a blast out there. 'Tis one of the better experiences I've had among the dozen or so times I've gone to Squallywood over the years. But TONS of high-level riders & skiers there makes getting freshies tough.

Pretty kickass trip this weekend, wasn't expecting as much remaining snow flurries, but got in lots of good runs @ Heavenly. Have North*, K-wood (likely next trip in a couple weeks), and Squaw on my list for the remaining season.

going up tomorrow during the morning and right now i80 requires chains... so...
quick question: When i80 says chains required except "all wheel drive with snow tires" will they let me pass with my pzero nero m+s?
Obviously carry cables just in case...

I'm sure you've gotten the answer by now, but you're good. The "S" in the "M + S" designation means Snow. Duh!

In very light snow like 1/4" they handle ok, throw anything nasty at them and they are horrible.
Pirelli now has the PZero Nero All Season which look to be alot better.

"This line originated as the P Zero Nero M+S "Pinna" line that identified Pirelli’s use of a tread design that features additional sipes to enhance snow traction compared to P Zero Nero M+S tires."

Went to kirkwood on Sat. Left folsom at 645, 88 had chain control 50 miles out so we didn't get to the lifts until 10. The conditions were pretty amazing, fresh powder was everywhere. gonna try to go back up this sunday.
This was also my first time testing my new Blizzak LM-22's on ice covered hwy roads... WOW. These things are pretty amazing, being able to confidently pass people going 45-60mph on ice while traffic was crawling at 30mph. My tail only whipped out when i forced it to by giving it some gas and then jerking the wheel. Stopping was very predictable.
Got these tires on closeout on tirerack, highly recommend.

kinda late but I've been waved thru many times (both in my suby and my parents' 4-runner) with all season tires. Always do keep chain/cables in the car but I haven't needed to use them yet with all-seasons. Just drive safe.

Been waved through chain controls on the OEM Re-92's a few times. My winter set now is Continental Pro Contact M+S's, had a couple "oh ****!" braking moments in the snow/mud, but the car didn't swap ends or wiggle when they happened.
