Alpine Meadows is actually the closest resort to ya, but, as my earlier post shows, they won't re-open til Sat. But it is worth checking out their website for a change in plans. Tahoe has been getting steady snowfall even though it's kinda spotty in the Bay right now.
I suggest checking all websites right before heading up to get the most of your $, esp. since prices also change. Since the terrain was limited to snow-making prior to this current system, ya might as well hit the place that has the most acreage open for your $.

I got a question for all you people who have experience driving in snow. I have falken fk-452s and read that it is extremely dangerous to drive in snow with these tires. Would it make a difference if I used chains or would it still be just as bad?
I'll be going to Oregon this weekend and wanted to take my car.

Went to Sierra Summit this past weekend, it was a blast with all that fresh pow! Definitely a great resort if your in the Fresno area, good hill, not as packed as Tahoe = more runs for your $$
Pics from the drive up and back home. The Subaloo handled the drive, no sweat.
The kiddo and I, he'll be on his first board this season!
I'll be out at Boreal this weekend. Tahoe area is reporting 3+ foot base as of this morning.

so stoked right now!
i was planning on hitting up N* (maybe Hvnly) tomorrow since they've been opened longer than KW (they opened 2 days ago).
well.. today the 'Wood is running 5, 11 and now 6! Lots of terrain open compared to N*. but i have a feeling they'll be expanding quickly, too, since folks like me are jumpin' ship.
i'll be sure to report back to y'all.

Got some replacement bindings today, looking like 70/30 yay/nay that I'm headed up on Saturday. Most likely Heavenly, possibly Northstar (which I've never been to). Depends if I can find my Heavenly free pass I got @ Ice R Air.

Kirkwood here I come. Anyone else going this weekend? I'm praying the backside to be open by then. Looks like chairs 5, 6, 10, and 11 will be open for tomorrow. I'm so stoked.

Mike-how old is you kid? I took my son boarding last season 2x @ Boreal and he had a blast!!! And he was only 2yrs old!!!! Pretty freaking funny to see a 2 year old coming down the bunny-hill. Let me know if you ever want to meet up and take the young guns boarding together.

What tires did you drive up there with?
