Totally, there was a link to the forum where I found him originally. Also, there's a link to the maker of that very flashlight but the page isn't built yet.

For now, check out www.candlepowerforums.net - look for Mag85 or Roar of the Pelican. The site for that light is macscustoms.com but it's not really done..

Ho-my-fooking-gawd. I would be worried that it would make me crap my pants every time I turned it on. Hmm.. If I got two, I could make driving lights that melt the cars in front of me. Very nice!

Seriously though, THAT is awesome.

Holy crap. I just made a Mag85 out of old 3xd-cell mag I had laying around. It's brighter than the sun.

I'll post pics tonight or tomorrow.

Damn, I didn't realize there were so many flashlight guys on the boards. I'm one myself. *hint*check the link in my location for my company*hint*. I've been wanting to build a Mag85 for a while now. How much did all of the parts cost you Ryball? Any idea what the candlepower is on the Mag85 you've built? All I can find is lumens ratings. The brightest thing I sell is the Golight Profiler II which is pretty bright at 1.3+million candlepower, but it's too large to have under the seat of my car. I want something I can drive around with.

Here is a great thread:

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=113100

Third post down is AWESOME.

I spent around $100, but I already had the 9xAA rechargables and a charger.

You can get away with probably around $70 if you have the batteries + charger already.

Parts you need:

reflector
lens
bulb
9xAA->3D adapter
batteries
charger

PM me for specific suggestions on parts. I've done a LOT of reading in the past week.

As far as candlepower, I don't know. Most of the numbers the guys over at CPF throw around are lumens. To compare it to something, I guess if you have seen a Surefire M6, it is rated as twice as bright as that.

Suffice it to say, it is the brightest hand held light I have ever seen. I can light up my whole neighborhood.

Sweet, thanks for the link. The only reason I prefer candlepower to lumens is because lumens measure only the theoretical light put out by the bulb/led with no optics, whereas candlepower measures the brightness of the focused beam. In otherwords, a light with higher lumens can be less "bright" than a light with lower lumens but a better focusing system. A good example is the Inova TIROS optics system. Inovas with this optic system are usually brigher to the naked eye than similar wattage/lumen led lights. This is better represented with a candlepower rating. I swear some of those people just go by lumes because it makes them sound more so like they know what they're talking about.

Yeah, I love the Profiler II. They're finally starting to catch on too, I just sold two in the last two days. They're pricey though. :/
