Replacement LED for maglite flashlights...
So I finally got my sorry *** around to buying one, and HOLY c4rp! What a difference.
About 4x brighter than standard and uses much less battery power. Pure white light and it is focusable like the regular maglites!
It's the maglite brand LED replacment... Got it at wallyworld for $18.
Thats the specific one, and here's a link if you're too lazy to go to wallyworld (walmart)

thx for the heads up.....been meaning to get one an LED bulb for my 3 D cell Maglite. $18 is more than I paid for the the whole flashlight, but I guess it's worth it if the LED bulb is brighter AND lasts longer.
anyone know of a local spot closer to SF w/good deals on these?
or even a reputable Ebay seller?

Streamlights are the way to go. A friend and I have our own ditribution company that deals in flashlights, among other things. Surefire is not the best company if one also consideres value. They're great but not worth the additional cost. Streamlights are more than suitable for almost any need, and cost 1/3 to 1/2 that of a SureFire. Pentagon lights are also vary good (made by a former SureFire engineer I belive) with nearly the exact build quality of SureFires but at maybe 4/5ths or less of the price.
