Time to get the cars dirty again!!
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 1st & 2nd, RallyCross @ Thunderhill. No speacial equipment or car preperation required. This is a chance to take your Subaru out and drive it the way it wants to be driven. Come for one day or both. The cost is $30 for SCCA members and $40 for non-members. 2.5 hours? ...well i guess it depends on how fast you go It's nice that it's two days this time as well, more racing for the travel time.
Would more people go if the event were closer, or are most people afraid of getting their cars dirty?

Its 2.5 hours if you follow the speed limit, which I do. I dont care about the car getting dirty - I have a hose for that! Its the 2.5hrs of drive time! It ends up being a very costly weekend:
$25 gas for drive up
$50 for motel (because I'm not driving up at 6AM to get there by 830)
$30 race fee
$25 gas drive home
---------------------------
$130 for 5 minutes of track time. That comes out to about $1560/hr, or 3x what a REALLY top end lawyer makes. Its just not worth it for me to do regularly. Besides the less than happy looks I get from my better half when I spend ALL DAY racing.
I'm happy to do AutoX because its around here, and I can leave in the morning and be back around 2, having paid $10 in gas and $30 in fees.
So, to answer your question - yes, if it were closer, I would be FAR FAR FAR more likely to come.

We're still trying to get all the bolts onto the Mazda for Sunday but it would seem someone has something against us making it there judging by how some of the bolts are coming off of it
