Quick Strut Install Question
Posted here to hopefully get a quick answer as I am in the middle of installing these. Couldn't find anything in a search. I am installing them in the El Cerrito to make it BAIC relevant.
Anyway, installing new struts and the stock struts have a rubber bumper/stop on the strut tower. I remember reading somewhere that you should trim this when upgrading struts to increase the travel-length of the strut. Is this correct? If so how many notches should be cut?

cut one nub.
However now I have a bigger issue. Went with kyb agx and they don't have an allen socket on top to not spin the shaft while tightening like the stocks b/c they have the adjustment tabs there. instead they have about 1/2" of flat grooves on the shaft for a wrench. Problem is I can't get the nut down far enough to expose the flat part so now the shaft spins when I try to tighten it.

You're not using a spring compressor are you. They really do make the job go easier. I've taken a pair of channel locks and electrical taped the ish out of the end and grabbed the strut shaft really tight. Up high under the bump stop, JIC you didn't wrap enough tape, if it mars it won't effect the strut.
