Quick Question on Stock Wastegate
Is the stock wastegate setup audible at mid-higher rpms (2700+) and high boost (10-14.7ps)?
I'm flashed at cobb stg 1 california off the shelf map and always hear this distinct noise when accelerating quickly... I just want to make sure it is not pinging or detonation. Never really noticed it until I got the Accessport and hit WOT. It is a very duplicateable noise.
Car is stock except for snorkus delete and catback.

Please excuse the noobishly phrased question... I'm just trying to get some reassurance that the noise I'm hearing is not detonation because if I imagine hard enough it sounds like marbles in a tin can... Just never heard it with my stock tune.

marbles in a tin-can
bb's on a dinner plate
all bad noises.
in all honesty, stop driving it immediatly, or flash back to stock. the re-flash shouldnt have caused a change in wastegate noise.
Im going to be completely honest when i say the OTS cobb maps are crap and you are MOST LIKELY detonating.

I know it is near impossible to e-diagnose a sound. So can you hear the internal wastegate on a stock car though at high(er) boost?

A wastegate during boost will only make a hissing noise. It wont be a pingy sound. Drive next to a turbo diesel and you will know what a wastegate sounds like.
Only difference is, yours wont be nearly as audible.
If you have any more questions you can PM me, but by your description, and the crappy cobb map, im going to go out on a limb and say its detonation hands down.
Of course i cant be 100% sure unless i see the car, but its a pretty good venture it is.
You can always take it to EQ tuning and have him tune your car =)

truthfully I know it is not this loud, but it sounds incredibly close to this noise just toned down. It sounds like a rash grinding vibration that stays consistent as long as I'm accelerating wot.
