Should be the same, I have a 2000 RS as well. You may have to put some new holes into the shift boot, but you won't be able to tell when you put everything back together.
On the old shift boot, there's adhesive that keeps the leather boot on as well as 6 plastic clips, be careful with the 6 plastic clips when you take off the retainer rings. Then, get the new shift boot, line up the holes in the leather, and put the retainer rings back in. If they don't line up, get a nail or a pin or something to puncture a new hole into the shift boot. That's all there is too it.
Good luck.

If you can get it for close to nothing, then it's worth it, otherwise you have some options.
If you're going to go with an aftermarket **** that doesn't have the boot holder ring, like the stock ****, then go with any aftermarket shift boot that you want. If you're using something with the boot holder ring (I have no idea what the technical term for this is), then I'd say go for an OEM Subaru boot.
