Mexican food - Los Pericos (Pelton Center, Gagan/joltdudeuc swears by this place), Taqueria Guadalajara (E.14th), and La Pinata (Merced St. off Marina Blvd, open late night at 3-4AM when you're craving Mexican food, sit down place, however)
Vietnamese/Pho - Please, just go somewhere else. Go to Oakland or even venture as close as Hayward (Mr. Pho on Hesperian & A St. across from Target/Home Depot or Red Chili on Mission Blvd). Although I heard Halan's not bad for pho off Lewelling. R&D Cafe on Grant Ave had some pretty good banh mi sandwiches for dirt cheap ($2.25?).
Diner - Nick's Family Restaurant (Open 24/6. Closed at about 9PM on Sundays, big portions, so-so food, small prices!) and I hear Fifth Wheel is a solid breakfast diner. Pretty old school and no frills if that's what you like.
Other Places - I hear Porky's Pizza in Manor has good fried chicken. Also I should check out the "Chinese Bakery" (that's the name) in the small shopping center next to Manor Bowl. There was a neat little mom n' pop Hawaiian restaurant, but I dunno if it's still in that Manor shopping center. Also, Grocery Outlet FTW off of E. 14th. That's where I get my Dreyer's (It's labeled as "Ed's" like some parts of the US) Girl Scout Thin Mint ice cream and random stuff for dirt cheap to stock up on. I go to Englander to get my pub food fix while watching a Warriors game on their gigantic projector screen. I haven't been there in a while though.

My job is to clean Bart stations at night and let me tell you, cars get broken into A LOT! At the downtown Hayward station there was a civic sitting on blocks not too long ago, and almost every week at any given station there will be a fresh pile of glass for me to clean up from a broken car window.
Not to mention all of the shady people at the stations who always come up to me asking for change so they can "get to my uncle's funeral" (at 2am? wtf!) or whatever other bs story they come up with. One guy in San Francisco actually offered to give me his bike (probably not ACTUALLY his..) for a few quarters so he could travel a couple stations down.
I would never leave my car at a Bart station. Period. Too many weird things go on there.

Their beer battered onion rings aren't half bad either! I haven't had a Best Burger in years. It's one of the few places I've seen up here that does a good job putting pastrami on top of a decent burger.
