Question about vacuum pump for brakes..
I keep having this problem with my brakes lately. I recently installed Goodridge SS lines and ATE fluid. On the day of the install the brakes were bled numerous times and my pedal felt alot stiffer and I didn't see any fluid leaking from my lines. 3 days later my pedal got all soft again, so I had the brakes bled again... pedal went back to being stiff. Now a week and a half later my pedal is getting noticlbly softer again, and my brake fluid level is still up at the max line. So I'm thinking theres still air SOMEWHERE in my brake and I wanted to get a vacume pump tomorrow to take care of it. My question is: Does the vacume pump make bleeding the brakes a 1 person job??

Get a hand pump from Kragen. They only cost about $20 or so. This does make it a one man job. Just keep pulling the trigger and the fluid is sucked out of the container. Make sure you run to the reseviour to top off the fluid from time to time though. Just a reminder, but the owners manual should have the proper bleeding wheel sequence. Doing the wheels out of the specified order can leave bubbles in the system.

See, I always throught you started at the farthest point. ie rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver. I could be wrong though. Now you got me wondering. Does anyone else out there know?

That is correct for vehicles that have a system that splits the front from the rear, like rear wheel drice cars. However cars that are split diagonally, like FRD have a different. Don't our cars have a diagonal system as well?

The best order I've come up with so far is front driver/ rear passenger in any order you with, then front passenger/ rear diver in any order. Found the info here:

Also, I would venture that your bleeder screws could be leaking. The stock ones on the WRX suck absolute ***, I had to teflon tape 'em up to prevent air from leaking in around the threads while I was bleeding with a vacuum pump. Speedbleeders seal much better.
