I wouldn't buy a demo car of any sort - factory demo, test driver, whatever. Doesn't matter to me. Double-digit mileage turns a new car into a used car in my book. But then, I'm a pecker when it comes to this sorta thing.

P.S. Ok, so I'm a pecker when it comes to a lot of things. But that's not relevant here.

Also, don't forget the fact that the 05 model will be a year older much faster if that matters to you. I'd get the 06, and still have a "new" car in a year.
I had a choice between an 04 STI and the 05 I bought. The interior was one of the main reasons I got the 05, but the deciding factor was that around this time of year I'd still have a new 05.
Something you might want to look into: how many miles does it take for the car to be considered used? I've been told before that if the car has a certain number of miles on it, they can't sell it as new anymore.

It's been said but there are so many dealers with cars that are just off the truck, buy one of those and beat the crap out of thier demo. The first 1000miles are pretty important. Make them yours so you know they're done right. When I bought mine it had 4 miles on it. Still had the paint protection film. That's a new car.

I bought mine from Ron Price. I wished I never did. Their salespeople suck and so do their detailers. They scratched my car in multiple places when washing it. They also took it to In and Out for lunch before I picked it up. I found lettuce, sesame seeds, and a straw wrapper under the seat. Stay away from them.

Anyways, back to Ron Price...I will NEVER, EVER buy a car from them or take my car there for service. Why? I've been to that dealership 5 times to look at cars within the past year. Not ONCE have I ever been asked if I needed help, not ONCE has a salesman given me any sort of attention. I've been there alone and with my wife and got the same (non) treatment. And it's obvious that I'm interested because I'm practically tearing the car apart looking at it. I've heard of "no hassle" sales...but when I'm in the dealership poking my head into every cubicle to try to get someone to test drive a car, I think I need some service. It's sad to say, and I can't prove it, but I think I was "profiled" as a non-buyer because I look young. One time I was there looking at the Legacy GT and the STi. I was in the cars for about 10 minutes and no one came out. They were sitting around in the dealership. Another guy comes up who probably looks 3-5 years older than me (probably the same age though) and two salesmen greet him.
Okay, rant mode off...so anyways, don't give business to these people. Even though I work close to the dealership, I'll take my STi to Carlsen or even Santa Cruz for service.

I bought my 05Wrx from Ron Price that had about 200 miles on it. They had to drive it from Angels Camp. It was the only Aspen White left in Nor-Cal so I had to take it. Sales people and the finance manager are not friendly and they tried to pull a fast one on me with the price. Sales guy and I agreed on the car for $24,550 OTD. I go to the finance/manager to pay for the car in cash and he points to the computer and says "$24,550 not including tax/reg/license fee" I told him "NO, thats the price OTD." And all he said was "okay" without an appology.

Screw these guys. I bought my car from Marin Subaru and they traded it from Ron Price. The car didn't even come EQUIPPED WITH THE OPTIONS on the sticker!!! So Marin Subaru called Ron Price and had to argue on the phone with them to find out why it wasn't equipped with what it said on the sticker.
Marin Subaru never complained to me, and I could hear them talking on the phone. If a dealer is rude to another dealer, what does that say?
Go to Marin Subaru or anywhere else. Except Steven's Creek

Ive only been to stevens creek and santa cruz, but the diffrence was night and day. at stevens creek, the sales guy drove it off the lot and was really bad at driving stick, and reved out 1st and 2nd. the car had 102 miles. He then gave me a hard time for not molesting the poor car, kept saying spool it up, get it going, its a wrx, drive it like one. I then said I will not drive like an idiot in residential. A few weeks later, this last week, I went over the hill to santa cruz, and talked to a nice young guy there, who let me drive the car off the lot, but before I got in told me to keep it under 4k, which I gladly did, and was pleased to be told to do so.
I will not be returning to stevens creek, it is worth the drive to go to a good dealer.

Driven it all over the place.
Rain, small rivers, snow, dirt, gravel, tarmac.
Smooth, bumpy, uphill, downhill.
Reved to fuel cut off a couple times, drove it like I stole it after the 1000 mile break in for a couple thousand miles.

Top marks for Ron price service
I went in today for my pre-paid 7500 miles service that I bought when I got the car and I was pleasantly surprised by their excellent service. The guys were waiting to check me in at 7.30am, they called me mid morning to let me know that I needed new rotors (at 8000 miles!!!!) but it was covered under the warranty.
When I picked up my wrx mid afternoon they had even washed and detailed my car..
when I bought the car at Ron Price they were excellent, and so far their service dept has been very good.
