Purolator PureONE $5.48 for 2 After Rebate

Good deal if you need to buy something from Amazon so you get free shipping. Note on the rebate form it's $2/filter limit 2, so the 2 pack from Amazon is the max.

Ah crap, I got it mixed up with a different oil... I knew puralator was a filter co, I thought they made oil too.
Why not touch mobil 1? It's been nothing but a GREAT oil in all my cars for the past 10 years. I use redline, amsoil, and royal purple sometimes, but mainly mobil 1 and if I had an option I'd get amsoil cuz they own. Amsoil is def the best of all of them

lately i've been using Motul. before that Eneos. before that, Mobil 1. I dunno what was up with my car but, my motor was eating a quart of mobil 1 per 1000 miles for maybe 5000-6000 miles. After that, the motor blew in the middle of a u-turn. at the time, all i had was an uppipe/downpipe. santa cruz gave me a new motor cuz of that. they couldn't figure out what caused it. after reading around and hearing some bad stories with Mobil 1, I stopped using it. So far, engine issues since that.

I don't want to start a huge debate over oil, but Mobil 1 tends to run very thin for the rating it is. This leads to oil blow by, oil consumption, and forcing you to check it every gas fill up. A lot of people have had problems with Mobil 1 in their subies, so I'd stay away from it.
Amsoil, I've heard good things other than it tends to thicken as it gets old, which is not normal for synthetic.

I used a quart of Mobil 1 every 5,000 miles, when I switched to Amsoil the oil usage dropped big time. I have heard that Mobil 1 is actually thinner from what is says on the bottle. I also use the EA013 Amsoil Synthetic Media Filter. Amsoil calls for the EA012 filter but the EA013 is roughly a inch longer and is known as a so called filter upgrade around iwsti.com.
I am interested in any oil that does not burnt in 5k intervals in a WRX.

This size is for '04 + WRX/STi. It'll fit on the '02, but I believe the '02/'03 is a little bit bigger. I currently have an '02, but with a EJ25 shortblock, and this is what I use.

It says PL14460, which is also on sale, however Amazon still says it doesn't fit. I'd listen to Purolator's website over Amazon's.
Since I bought my car used, I don't know how the original block was broken in, but it definitely went through mobil 1 like water. My car, has not burned any oil since my short block swap 26k miles ago. I use Rotella-T which is designed for turbo diesel but has passed all tests for gasoline usage. A lot of people on NASIOC use it as well with 0 burn off.
If it is, that'd be news to me. I remember reading that Purolator used to be Subaru OEM company, which has since changed, but that's why I've stuck with them. Do you have any other sources other than a Pep Boys employee, since that's not a great source.
I just did a quick search, and I only found this: http://www.mindspring.com/~latvia/Ot...omparison.html
