Yes. It's this new trend where people are growing up and maturing slower than they did in the past. Today's 23yr old is like the 16yr old from 10yrs ago. It has been my experience that more often than not, college does nothing to mature kids these days. Often times, nether does working. I blame it on today's parents. They are far too supportive and kids are living at home a lot longer than they used to. As a result, kids today feel they don't have to grow up as fast because there is always the parent "safety net" to catch them if they screw up. Then again, this is coming from the 27yr old still living at home 2-3 days of the week.

So True...these 16,17,18 yr old...in high school..if they like imports..they either want a wrx or a evo now...

My little cuz who lives in Sac..turned 17yrs old 2 weeks ago...and yup..his parents bought him a 2003 WRX wagon....and now he wants Advice from me...what a tool..!
Sounds like you're jealous. The reason you have these youngsters doing stupid things with their cars is because they don't have people giving them advice or they have the WRONG people giving them advice.

Shoot I get jealous hearing about these kids getting wrx's and stis and what not for free by their parents and even probably another 50% of the folks on these boards... these 18-23 year olds who live at home and talk **** about how much better their cars are when they don't pay bills. If I lived at home when I was 23 I would have been driving an m3. But nope... I drove a civic.

But that's besides the point.

Bottom line. Your cousin has a fast car. He wants your advice and you should give it to him. Start him off in the right direction with parts to buy, order to do things and the proper way to conduct himself as an adult with a deadly weapon under his ***.

Otherwise when he wraps it around a pole you're gonna feel like a douche bag.

My little cousin got into drifting. I'm all about advice if he asks for it. Better to be into that than doing drugs or being a gang banger.

Selfrightious attitudes get us no where as an industry.

completely true..

better to lead him in the right direction.. good thngs to do, bad things to do..

i would rather have a tool in a wrx than another gang banger n the streets honestly..
i mean.. a tool is a tool and he will know hes a tool, and we can persuade him out of it.

just lead him in the correct path man.. NO BOVS or intakes, or parts without tuning.. stuff like that. teach him to repect the beast he now has.. to not abuse it

Good point +1

But I think with ANYTHING in life. Abuse can lead to bad things. In relation to this forum, spending unwisely on your car can lead to empty pockets. Or out of control driving can lead to car accidents and even death. Doing drugs (most, not all) can lead to failure in school and life (yes, I've seen it happen). Everything needs to come in moderation in all aspects of life.

Not that I didnt give him advice, hell first thing I said to him was drive and get to learn the car...He is one of these cocky kids that thinks he can get away from anything and get anything cause he's the youngest...

And YESSS first thing he said he was going to get was a Intake and a Boost Controller..surprisingly he knows what they do!...He's as hard headed as anything...

Jealous..umm maybe!!.. Shiettt when I was 16 I was driving a 1981 Toyota Corolla that needed a coolant check every morning so I wouldn't stall anywhere..

I told him about the I-club.com board..hopefully he post in the Sac Section.

there's like 1 of these type of threads a week.. what's the point?

when talking about anything there's always going to be people who make you or it look bad. Everything has bad apples... it's like if the new england patriots or whoever had the best rated fans, there are still a lot of douchebags.

so stop crying alrdy, ****.

If u think snaking through traffic and cutting people off is crazy then u should see how they drive in Europe...Its the norm!!! I learned to drive in Greece on some of europe's most deadly roads and I have had my share of risky endeavors. You must be 18 to drive there and the license requirements are much more strict. I think people here are allowed to drive at too young an age without proper testing. No teenager should be allowed to drive a turbo charged car unless its a Volvo 240 DL or unless they know how to heel-toe....

My complaint though is that a lot of the time people in the US over react to seeing others drive aggressively here than in other countries. (Having driven both here and in EU). I was yelled at by some guy saying "You think u got race car? My z28 will **** that thing up stop driving like its ur own personal race track! I got ur plates and im calling the cops" All i did was pass a car in front of me and not use my blinker..why? Because no one else was around me that needed indicating and the guy yelling at me was in a POS metro 100ft at least behind me observing my lane change and felt the need to put in his $.02. Still waiting for the porkers to show up..yea right

Just be glad that most Scooby owners are not like some other idiots on the road. But dont forget that WRX is meant to be driven hard and not everyone can save themselves for trackdays.
