Beta vs. VHS cassettes, German Tiger vs. Soviet T-34 tanks.... most everytime a mass manufactured technologically superior product matched up against a seemingly lightweight competitor...
If history serves us right and Mricrosoft plays it's cards right with some marketing magic, a price slash, Halo 3, Gears of War, i dunno man Sony could have it tough.

if i've money at that time i'll buy it. for sure there will be a new chip that can play the copy disk, so i could save a bunch of money. hehehehe. :P
compare to 360, i will stick to Playstation. Bill gates, stop competing with PS...leave the game freak to Japanese people. :P

quit yer whining...
sound like a bunch RAPPIN' GRANNY who havent gotten any.
the standalone HD DVD player selling at best buy is $499.
yes, it's another round of beta vs vhs, dcc vs minidisc (remember that fiasco?), +r vs -r, etc...
right now, i see blu ray winning. they have too many movie companies behind it. hd dvd has like 3 or 4.
expect a "merging" of the 2 in about 3-5 years. a universal player...
only downside i see with the PS3 is that it only has DVI or HDMI outputs (like the toshiba hd dvd player. the components outs will spit out a 720p signal only)... my 5 y/o HDTV only has components...

Playstation 3 looks ridiculous awesome. I will get several to ebay fo sho! proly will wait 1 year after it comes out to buy 1 for myself.
about the price, the earliest blu-ray players will cost $1000-1800. So getting a ps3 for $600 is a steal

It did? The cheapest price for the PS3 is $100 more than the 360 Premium and the 60gb model is $200 more. How are those prices equal? And why the hell is it $100 for just a 40gb bump?
