OP I can't help you with your wiring issue, but for reference, mine is set up so that the defi boost gauge lights up when I turn my headlights on. On the flip side, there is definitely some faulty wiring going on with my headlights from the original owner. Sometimes when I use my blinker at night my headlights will flicker on and off or only one head light will come on and i have to turn them off and on several times to get the one thats off to heat up.

Moral of the story... be careful with your wiring!

Yeah, careful for sure. It was most likely that I brushed the power wire with the ground and shorted everything. Imma check the fuse box in the cabin on the lower left hand driver side and also the fusebox in the engine bay for blown fuses.

You better not turn that blue! Instead you should work out a deal with me for my 07 cluster which already has the green film removed and white leds that can be swapped for the blue.

Is it an STi cluster or wrx?

Mine is an STi cluster. im not sure if they are the same or not LED wise. The STi cluster use SMDs (much smaller than LEDs) and there is no film to scrape. The cluster backing is pretty much clear and all the SMDs are red.

 

Oh, I have a WRX one. I've never looked into an STi one. I guess that means its pretty easy to change the color on!

 

Yes and no.. If i remember right, theres about 26-28 SMDs that create all the color in the clusters. I wouldnt replace all of them (i would keep the redline, the needles ect ect all red).

But SMDs are like the size of a ball in a ball point pen, super small! So you need some really good soldiering skills to remove the old ones and put the new ones in. If you heat the board up just a little too much, you could fry it and then its trash

I have some soldiering skills, but not sure they are good enough for this job. Ive only found ONE shop in the Sac area thats willing to do it, but they want something like $160 to do it! They were charing me something like $3 per SMD and of course labor. Sucks because I can get good quality SMDs online for like .25 Ive been meaning to ask them if they would do the work if I brought my own in, and just not warranty them.

 

Ya, sounds very complicated. Could be worth it, but I think if you really wanted a blue cluster, than a wrx cluster is much easier to use. There are only 7 or so led's that pop right out.

If you pull off the blue sti cluster, you may be the first ever. I've never seen anyone else do that.
