actually you can set a max byte and image size (IE: 100k and 100X100 [pixels]) for each avatar.

Additionally, for you .. uhh .. underprivaleged users (56k), you can actually disable avatars in your profile settings so that even if someone has one, you won't see it.

 

i wonder how many times that has to be said before people stop crying about it.

Well, here's my 2¢............either have avatars for EVERYONE (senior members and up) or NOONE.....that way, if you get ppl that are just trolls and never post, they WONT have the option of getting an Avatar....but getting up to the SENIOR MEMBER level is NOT that hard and doesnt take that long even if you never postwhore (I didnt start postwhoring at all until I saw the avatars, and ofcourse I want one) . I think that is a reasonable level.....this whole 1000 post minimum for Avatars is rediculous .....and you wonder why so many people have been postwhoring since Avatars have been introduced...

who freaking cares, if you don't have an avatar, so what. avatars were originally enabled for those people most active on the board. thats why the post limit is so high. just keep posting like you usually do (minus the straight whoring) and eventually you will get one. this whole lowering the post count idea is just stupid imo. i think alex should just leave it as is and just have the moderators enforce the no post whoring rule more.

 

Or better yet. Cancel whatever ISP they're on and that extra phone line and use that money to get a broadband connection. You can't believe how many people have dedicated seperate phone lines that's only used for DIAL UP. I had that once and I switched as soon as I heard cable was only $40 a month (at the time).

I've postwhored a few times since the 1500 limit was set and i damn well know 90% of the active members have too. So... alex and the moderator either control postwhoring by whatever means, or drop/get rid of the post count limit for avatars, or go back to the way it was without avatars at all. those are the 3 options. that's it!

If you have DSL, great!... if you have 56k or whatever then turn off avatars! it's very simple to do!

But until Alex actually does something to fix the problem we are left with a 1500post count limit for avatars. Bottom line is it'd his desicion.

It's just a damn picture the size of my thumbnail anyway! who gives a ****!

Being able to express yourself through and avatar is the best thing i-club can do to bring in members and vendors....
