Last time i checked the cusco cage wont pass tech. Your better off with an Auto power bolt in if you want something that will actually protect you and will pass tech inspections. Auto power cages will pass tech, they are scca & Nasa approved.
These comments about a cage in a DD being unsafe are funny. i drove a fully caged car as a DD for 3 years. Helmet or not you padd the cage bars by your head cause even with a helmet its a much softer impact than helmet to bar. and with the pads head to padded bar isnt great but its not as bad and you can thicken up the padding where the bars are closer to your head.
A custom cage for a DD is a much better option as you can have the bars positions to not be close to your head and run higher and "stealthier" along the roof. they also tend to be stronger and safer. If done right you can have it made to "bolt in" so that you could sell it later on, that might cost you a little more but hey resale option is nice.

Damn I really didn't know that about the Cusco cages. I just bought it cus I get it so damn cheap from my work lol (ex work now 
). I dont plan to race the car so yeah.

They're just for looks. "Stiffens up the chassis" But in reality all it does it crush your head in a roll over or takes a piece of your skull in any other accident.
Scott yeah you can daily it but padding can only do so much the car was made for impact and now he's adding a bar there that doesn't belong. The latter part of your post is very relevant though.
Highly doubt you can roll with your bags especially since oil pan and frame are not set on the ground yet.

Heeds are they really that dangerous? Do you have any information and facts to backup such a serious statement?
I'd really like to do some research on these because if they are really that dangerous in case of a roll over maybe I won't keep it...

Basically what Hide's saying is an improperly built and installed cage is actually more dangerous than say a good cage or no cage at all.
That said, pad your cage to at least protect your noggin, both during driving and during entry and egress. If you want to get into the nitty-gritty of cages we can chat offline or again, I'll point you to my boy Joey or online research.
I've knocked myself for a good one more than once on sections of cage, as well as walked away from stuff that I couldn't have without a proper cage, explains a lot huh?
