After breaking 2 craftsman ratchets and 1 metacarpal last week i felt this was a justified expenditure.

sorry but if you broke 2 3/8" Craftsman rachets on something, then you should have been using at least a 1/2" rachet on it

I've broken 2 of those SnapOn 3/8ths wrenches, and they just hand me a new one.

It was on 2 unrelated fasteners. I believe one ratchet to have been defective.

Nah.. The quality of crapsman is not what it used to be. They break all the time. They used to replace them with new. Now they just rebuild them in front of you and your back a week later. I too had to move to Snap off as well.

Sears has been trying to go cheap on crapsman and sell on the name and quality of past. 20 years ago. You would never break a 3/8

I've been working for Sears for 5 years now. If you demand new you get new though. They started rebuilding due to obviously cost and since the body is still good might as well swap out the internals. But they did have a bad batch of 3/8in and 1/4in but most associates dont know that since they are newbs. You also have to watch how some of the associates build them. Some have been known to put Lithium Grease which is a big NO NO. When I rebuild for customers I strictly use Air Tool Oil only. All the ones I rebuilt for myself are still doing pretty good still even after putting a good amount of pressure on them.
