actually it would be quite a problem, I know of some MR2 guys with stock JDM engines pinging under acceleration, but the ECU of course pulls timing to compensate. Although conversly the engine just doesn't put out as much horsepower, which is BAD but eh, which is one reason why almost all JDM guys have aftermarket intercoolers for reliability plus I know the SR20 guys almost always run JWT knock sensors, plus some JDM guys running water injection to compensate to positive effect
