possible to import jdm sti??
i've just been recently thinking about this, wanted to know if it would be possible to import a jdm sti, this state has so many damn laws and regulations. I met this guy once who had an evo 7 imported, but he had the car registered in colorado or something, and moved down here for school. anyone know how hard it would be to get this done? if anyone has any info it would really help, i don't really know too much regarding this kinda stuff.

In our state, making it a street legal car would probably be almost impossible without throwing loads of money into certifying it. My guess is that it would be cheaper to buy a US spec STi AND a US spec EVO VIII (and you'd still have money left over).

in theory you could import the chassie, and drop in a 02 WRX engine

thats right, JDM! it was just an idea. i was also thinking about just getting an 02 rex, and dropping the jdm in there. anyone know how much that would cost. not including labor, i could probably get a good deal on labor. also how much do u.s. wrx motors go for nowadays?

er well an old TD05 version STi would be dirt cheap in Japan.
and silvias are dirt cheap too, even new the 250 hp Spec R is placed in the "under 25K" category along with civics and integras!

Problem is that the octane levels in Japan are much higher. Their premium is like 97 octane. That means you'll have to buy it retune it so it won't ping. Not to mention the RHD. I'm having a JDM STI V6 brought in to be isntalled on my MY00 RS 2.5.
