Is it possible to become unlactose-intolerent?

Like the title says, is it possible to become unlactose intolerant after being lactose intolerant? I remember not being able to drink straight milk anymore when I turned 15 or so, I could eat anything, just not straight milk...

Anyway, now it seems that I can without any problem... I used to drink lactaid milk which tasted really good, then my wife switched me without knowing and have been fine every since! Yay!

When I was 15 or so I had trouble eating ice cream without either having a really bad stomach ache, or having violent Bill Cosby's kids (I mean that in the most joking way ever, if that offends someone I will erase it and slap mys... someone)

So, in short, after puberty I couldn't drink milk or anything really milky, in my early 20s I was able to eat ice cream and such, and can now drink milk. Yay, this will save me money too not having to depend on lactaid.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or was I not lactose intolerant in the first place and had something else going on?

It's all in your head. I just deny it and not think about it.

PS: maybe something was wrong witht he milk you drank as a kid, some additive you were slightly allergic to.

but its a real condition! A huge part of the world can't digest milk for this reason... And I seriously could not for years and years, even if I was tricked... Even if I ate something that I didn't know have milk in it, so its not placebo

Myths About Lactose Intolerance

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...rper/MYTHS.htm

You Can Recover From Lactose Intolerance By Changing Your Eating Habits.

See above. You may be able to cut back on your symptoms, but as far as anyone knows, nothing you can do will increase your production of lactase once it has begun to decline. You can't even slow down the rate of decrease. If you decrease the severity or frequency of your symptoms, however, you may think you're cured, but it's just not so.

Lactose intolerance happens, it's unnatural for mammals to drink milk after a certain period of time (AFAIK, we are the only mammals who drink milk after the infant stage of life).

Go get yourself a few "Lactaid" as they may help you with digestion.

I've become lactose intollerant over the past few years.
There has been a change in my diet i.e. organic, whole foods, n all that crap.
I've tried lactaid and soy. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
I don't drink it straight I use it in cereal and such, I just grin and bear it.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel brucelee? There is hope? I do love me my ice cream

You dont like the taste of lactaid milk? I cant tell the difference? If anything, lactaid tastes a tiny bit sweeter then milk.

I'm partial to soy milk (Silk & whatever brand they sell at Costco, it's probably Kirkland) and it goes great with my cereal. As far as getting close to "dairy" ice cream, try some Tofutti Cuties, they're pretty bomb.

As far as Lactaid milk, I've never tried it, I just use their Lactaid chewables or pill form, they keep my stomach from going crazy if I eat cheese.

i hate soy milk. mostly the traumatizing affect it had on me when my parents forced me to drink it when I was a kid and when I poured a bowl into my cereal not expecting the taste.

hmm..maybe that's why i dont eat cereal anymore either lol

It is kirkland but not made by kirkland. I know the chocolate soy milk is made by a company called Sun Opta aka Organic Ingredients. Good quality.
