I looked into this about 6 months ago and found that I couldnt get a decent used table because they are too hard to ship. I found one table for $400, but shipping was $300.
If you head down to Sears though, you can pick up a brand new 8ft table for about $650 and then put it together yourself. It took me about 4 hours to do it right, and it came out great.. the best addition to my house yet (for parties at least)

Slate is nice, but slatron is easier to put together. With slate, you have to do a WHOLE lot of sanding to make sure that everything is perfect, and lots of shimming, etc. With the slatron, you just slide em together, screw em in, putty the holes and the ridges (where the pieces fit together), and sand it quickly....
