Have you called hammy and see if you can actually have a meet there this year? and what was the big deal last year as to why we couldn't have it there? Everyone i asked said we were not able to have a meet there anymore. Could you shed some light on this? Getting everyone pumped for hammy and then to come back and say we cant go there wouldn't be cool.
She doesn't work there anymore so that isn't a problem anymore, and even if she did still work there I would just book the place under someone else' name...

Quarry Lakes is a hole with water in the middle of suburban Fremont hell. Boring jaunt down 880 to sit in a rather bland, hot park. Plus there is the higher than average chance of FPD giving us a hard time given their time proven track record on modified cars.
I don't see the attraction to the place, especially when you play the capacity numbers game (which was/is the whole basis of having it there).

It depends, are we going to have 320 cars again? The last two years has shown a shrinking trend.
We grew from meet 1 to meet 6, then had a large drop for meet 7 and an even larger drop for meet 8 (120 cars from 320 two years prior). My theory for the decrease of people is that a lot of the Subaru hype has died down which means that our community has decreased in size as well. BAIC has def decreased in size in terms of members and activity compared to how it was 3 years ago when the Subaru hype was still very high thats to the release of the STi.
If our size is under 300 cars, we can pull off Mt Hamilton without a problem, the trick here is knowing how many people are going to show up. Every year I start a thread with some poll options, the question being "Are you going to show up to the Mt Hamilton annual meet, and if so, how many people will you be bringing?".
We can gauge what number of cars there will be, as well as people at the event for food/drink purposes.
If we decide that there is enough interest in Hammy, which it looks like there is, I will start the thread and let it run a couple of weeks and make sure almost everyone sees it so that we know if we can pull it off or not. If not there will be a secondary site.
The problem with Quarry Lakes is that its in the heart of Fremont. It's not close to a Freeway exit so you have to drive through the streets of Fremont/Union City to get to the park. Fremont cops are known to be some of the most notorious in terms of car modifications and I have first hand experience of that since I've lived here most of my life. My car is 99% stock and yet I still get hassled because I drive an STi.
Now lets imagine all those highly modified cars rolling through the streets of Fremont and one of the a-hole cops sees the caravan, I don't doubt that he would pull the entire caravan over for some lame reason like "Caravaning is illegal" or something. Thats what sucks about Quarry Lakes.

Do you need permits for this? Are you 'officially' occupying the space for the afternoon? If so, let it be known that first come, first served. Pre-paid gets wristbands, guaranteeing a spot, if you can do that. Make a poll, get some numbers and if the peanut gallery doesn't speak up and they miss out on a parking spot they only have themselves to blame.
Like I said before, you can sit on here and worry about the 'what ifs' until the day of the event and get nothing else accomplished other than a spot to have it, some music and food. That resembles too much of a 'meet' to me. Make it an event, raffles, give aways, vendors, magazine coverage. If you're going to invest time into it you may as well go big.

Quarry lakes was just lackluster Irish, compared to the fun of the Mt. Hammy annual events. Also, the drive TO the annual event is part of the fun, and driving on a freeway, a lot, from up here, down there, and getting off the freeway, and driving into a parking lot for Quarry Lakes vs Mt. Hammy involving said freeway driving, but then throws in a mountain at the end of said highway droning for fun twisties. Also, should you opt for a caravan (which I highly recommend, as it's probably the highlight of the whole annual meet), the UCKK caravan takes a GREAT route to get to Mt. Hammy, and is properly organized imo, using 2-ways to keep the large caravan together en route to hammy. Anyway, I'd quite enjoy a return to Hammy. I'd also enjoy that UCKK caravan as well if those guys start one.

Oh, and don't worry, the car's always running for the annual BAIC meet, has to be there at the FLi booth with her hood open, just like last year.

ROO hooked it up
To let you know, I offered to cater the event (with volunteer help for serving) last year for a figure of $10/plate. This would include tri-tip/chicken, potato salad, a green salad, and a dessert of some sort. The only thing it didn't include was drinks, for which they calculated two dollars/person. This year, I'd have to re-calculate the figures, but it wouldn't be much more, depending on food costs in the month in which we hold the BBQ.
I'm not going to bother digging up the thread from last year, but the response from everyone was exactly like your "bring food from home" blah, blah, blah crap. I was willing to take some money out of my pocket if I had to in order to help make the event a bit more organized, and work with the people to put on a nice orderly food service that fed everyone, didn't run out of food, and contributed to having a good meet. It was RESOUNDINGLY REJECTED by the majority of people, who cried and whined (just like your posts) about $17 (including the $5 parking) for the meet.
With your whining and complaining about money this year, I'm sure I'm not going to be so inclined to offer my help. Novato's park has everything we need - we just did a drive through and took pictures. Not that anyone's interested, but here they are:
Horseshoe pit (could be used for check-in/organizer spot)
Shade - plenty of shade - open space - several acres of open space to picnic, set up pop-up shades, etc.
Picnic tables - seating for ~80 directly by the BBQ area - although we tend to spread out - see ACREAGE above
BBQ pit - enough space to run a nice little grilling operation
Another view of picnic tables
More picnic tables
Electricity - plenty of it!! Several different locations
Running water!!
Fire Extinguisher - handy to have along
Another shot of the open space
More (different) open space
Parking lot close by
restrooms close by - wheelchair accessible for those concerned
Overflow parking - nice and level
More overflow parking - nice and level
