Plead the 5th
long video but very good about why you shouldnt talk to cops.
Ive known this for quite some time and even helped a friend out who was going to talk to some cops over his car flipping on the side of the freeway in the rain. He decided to talk to my lawyer instead of the cops and saved himself jail time and fines. Walked away only paying lawyer fees.
Daniel should definitely watch the entire thing because of all the run ins he has with cops :P

I have a hard time believing that the cops accept silence.
I got pulled over for doing 39 in a 35 zone (according to his radar). It went down like this.
Cop: do you know how fast you were going?
Me: I don't know.
Cop: SIR! (belligerent tone) DO YOU KNOW HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING?
me: I don't know.
I feel like you have to give some kind of answer or else they get pissy. I though about it and I think if you have to give a response, then the will work, "I don't have an answer"

I think it's true but also sometimes not. Once I was pulled over for making a sudden cut into another lane on the highway during rush hour traffic. Cop saw me and pulled me over and asked what I had done. I told him honestly what I was doing and why I had done it. He let me go without even asking for my license or anything after our initial exchange.
But I guess if somebody had robbed a bank or something, it's obviously not good to talk and just plead the 5th.
I guess what I'm trying to say is for minor minor things such as that little traffic incident I had, maybe talking might help. But it also might not. I guess it really depends on the cop.

Yea this might apply more to criminal conduct that warrants jailtime. You're gonna have a hard time talking your way out of a DUI or reckless driving arrest unless you have a pretty face and a big set of ****.

yeah he is talking about if you are being questioned or arrested, not a traffic stop.
whenever asked how fast I was going by an officer of the law, I would always respond with the post speed limit, even if I was not.
that usually works out well.
