qwk wrx: not too many shops in Kyoto (not much there other than old temples and castles lol), but a lot in in and near Osaka. I'll try to get back to you ASAP on Kansai shops BTW, when you're there, try to catch the late-night highway battles on the Hanshin Expressway
And Vanessa, you're very welcome!

What are looking at shopping for in Osaka and surrounding? I'f you're looking for clothes, I would say take the shinkansen to Kobe. You can get anything from cheap azz UNIQLO to nice disigner stuff that we don't get here (fassion is so much better IMHO) and there's a SOHO and Marui and a few other depaato right outside of Shin-Kobe station. As far as car stuff, my family is more into fassion, music and computers so they're no help when I visit.
Osaka is a lot of fun at night. You can go to Namba and there's a bunch of good food and drink 'till later than I can hang (and some prostitutes if that's your cup of tea). There's also Snacks all over where you can chill and drink and listen to a little live music.
Depends on what your looking for. I have a cousin in Kobe, two in Osaka, half-a-family in Shimane prefecture and the rest in Tottori prefecture. If you have anything specific in mind, I can e-mail my cousins and ask.

Damn, now I really wanna go to Osaka...
It seems as if Kansai folks are nicer than Kantou folks (don't tell the Tokyoites I said that ), and girls from Kansai *drooooooooool*
And y'know, clothes shopping in Japan is a biatch for me haha... I'm 6'1", 215lbs built like a K-1 fighter so there's almost no clothes for me there. On the plus side, all the bozoshiku in Ikebukuro treat me nicely, especially when I had my blond hair lol (I'm an Asian d00d if you didn't figure lol)
BTW, qwk wrx gimme just a bit more time for finding those Osaka tuner shops. Off the bat, I know Signal Auto is in Osaka 072-730-2828.
