Is was thinking about renting the rug doctor at the grocery store to clean my interior. Anybody know of a better option than the Rug Doctor?

We've used Rug Doctor, works well. Sometimes it's more about the chemicals used rather than the machine.

In addition to the usual stains I'm trying to get the smell of cigarette smoke out.

I'm not too sure. We've used what comes with the rug doctor, but my friends brother owns a carpet cleaning business, and whatever he uses is crazy good. I think it's commercial only though.

Try the regular stuff and see how it works out.

I've had pretty good luck getting rid of smoke smell with both of these aerosols from Kragen.

I've found that the real key to getting rid of smoke smell is cleaning the headliner.

I pull the interior and pressure wash it. The seats, carpet and door panels will come amazingly clean. I will use a little simple green on tough stains and my wife like to spray a little shout on the carpet before I do my last rinse to give the car a fresh smell. I used to use the local car wash before I bought my own pressure washer. Gets it way cleaner then the rug doctors I have used in the past. Once done, buy a can of scotch guard to help keep it clean! I have done this probably 10-12 times now with every used car I buy...Good Luck!

Nothing has fallen apart from the force of the pressure washer? Seems like it would take forever for the seats and carpet to dry after being pressure washed. How do you handle that?

WHen my friend got a toilet tank cover busted over his head we used the rug doctor to clean up all the blood. There was a lot of blood. The rug doctor worked great. No one went to jail. It was a good night...

You need to watch your distance to the fabric and I use the wide tip. As for drying, hang the carpet and set the seats upright and the death will be dry first in a couple of hours and the carpet kit in 4 or 5. I have yet to hurt anything and am always amazed at how much black ooooz will come out.
