Pit bulls

Anyone have one?

With all this new legislature and crackdown because of recent events, I'm surprised anyone has one. I used to have one a few years back but she died of a heart condition. I have been looking into getting a replacement recently and I have been shutdown so many times its pretty disheartening. The shelter won't let me have adopt one unless I can provide proof that my homeowners insurance won't drop me, and that my homeowners association allows them. Of course my homeowners association is a group of douchebags so they denied me, so I told them its an American Bulldog and they were fine with it. I never thought it would be so hard to get a dog of my choice. I got completely discouraged from the pound and had to search out a breeder, ended up that the breeder is a friend who is moving and is stuck in the same situation where the new landlord will not allow them because of insurance reasons. I am going to end up adopting one of his breeder dogs unless he can find a new living situation, in hopes that maybe he'll give me one of the pups in return. I have tons of friends who have them and have had to call them by another breed name for the same reasons. Sucks that just a few idiot owners can screw up a nice breed of dog, I can only imagine what backup the shelter is going to have after these new laws and measures are put in place.

If the law says Pits are weapons you should clame it to be a violation of your 2nd admendment rights to be denied one. And if that does not work, file for a violation of the 14th.

It all comes down to training. Yes, an untrained pit bull could endanger children but so could an untrained driver. Or an untrained gun owner. You can't blame an entire breed for the actions of a few. Pit bulls are some of the friendliest dogs I've ever met. I'd love to adopt one someday.

I had to get permission from my HOA to keep my APBT. I am very responsible, she wears a muzzle in public areas. But they are not allowing anymore to live there. I feel like she gets hated on - dirty looks from neighbors, they avoid her. She just wants to play Eh, I am careful where I walk her, even though she wouldn't do anything. Just so they won't freak out.

pitbulls have bad raps. www.badrap.org they're normally very good with people.

the dog breed that bites the most people usually is the cocker spaniel...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/...in514774.shtml

it's like the one rogue street racer who ruins it for the rest of i-club... one bad dog can ruin the reputation of the entire breed. and when you have some liberal hippy running around with dandelions in their unkempt dreadlocks with infinite time on their jobless hands, crap happens.

Live in a project and then see how you feel about the strict rules on pitbulls. I've witnessed it more than a couple of times where they've attacked someone without cause and that **** is not pretty. I don't blame the dog I blame the owner. So I guess you can really thank every ******* who raised one to be ****ed up.

Hmm...then incarcerate ANY owner whose pit bull attacks someone. Make it a mandatory 10 yr. prison sentence. That should deter those who want a fighting dog, and shouldn't deter those who want a nice, well-trained dog.

It's a really disheartening situation. I've met a number of pitbulls, and all of them were the sweetest, most playful pups you could imagine. It all boils down to socialization, not breed heritage; you can also make a poodle into an aggressive biter if you try hard enough!

Unfortunately, due to the many irresponsible owners, backyard breeders, and one-sided media coverage, the shelters are drowing in pitbulls that cannot be adopted and will be euthanized. I feel so sad for all of those dogs.

Same here... I had my pick of over 15 pups at the shelter, but they won't let me adopt one. I think they made it downright impossible to adopt one, yet you can go snag a Rottweiler there with no questions asked.

not really, in kalif you'd be surprised at all of the banned weapons...

you have a piece of wood in your car that looks like a bat? you better have just come back from the batting cages. and not even for self defense either...

this state is so f***** with stupid *** laws, that you need to question yourself if what you are doing is legal...
