What's sad is that's what we're supposed to believe. I usually try to believe that people are generally honest individuals, and decent human beings. I grew up in a household where we were taught at a young age to respect the property of others, and would hopefully believe this of others.

It makes a real negative comment about the general Subaru community at large if there are thieves who would steal something simply because it deprives someone else of the pleasure of owning something nice.

I've met a lot of nice people in the Subaru community, who would lend a helping hand, who would point out if you're leaving something behind, and would help you get back what's yours if they found it.

We'll see what happens.

P.S. We've made a tradition of going on the drive up the mountain, and left the chairs behind before with no consequences. We've done this for two years now, and simply tried it for another year. It reminds us to come back to the event, lend a helping hand cleaning up the mess left behind at the meet. Finding our chairs gone really took away the good feeling of wanting to help clean up afterward, so we left.

That'd be nice. I simply want our chairs back, since they are irreplaceable. Pleiad and I have spent the better part of our free time since we got home looking on several different websites (Subaru internationally, LL Bean, eBay, all the Subaru boards) to see if there was a way we could replace these. There isn't.

Maybe the rangers were jealous of your car, so they took your chairs :/

This is a shame. I considered setting my Subaru Parking only sign on my windsheild, but then left it on my dash instead. I guess I'm paranoid. Anyways, I can't say I have the foggiest on what happend to the chairs, but if you need a beer to drown your sorrows (or celebrate the chairs return) pm me and I'll take you to sebastopol brewing company.

couple of things.

I really think people are jumping to conclusions here.

Saying this leaves a real negative impact on the general Subaru community at large is just rediculous. You're baseing this on what? Your chairs are missing? At an event that featured the cars from the bay area and not all the bay area subaru community was there. So your basing this statement on the POSSIBLE actions of one subaru community member.

Apparently all turkish are bad because one dirty bastard turkish guy got me smashed. Or is it just all turkish rally car drivers are bad...I don't know.

See what I'm saying. Sounds more like a pitty party than anything.

Lets see...you left to take a trip up. My questions are this...when you came back who was there? How many people were on the lawn? How many cars in the lot?

I think people are jumping onto this my **** got stolen bit too quick.

Maybe someone was helping clean up and thought they got left or forgotten and they took them home for safe keeping or just figured they came up. Maybe they'll see this and get a hold of you and get them home again. Maybe if everyone wasn't calling them thieves they be more likely to do this.

Have you contacted the Rangers yet? I saw a ranger lady walking around. She looked a bit pissed if you ask me. Maybe it was all the **** that got left everywhere. Or maybe she was just trying to find out who the chairs she picked up belonged too.

I'd say talk to those that were the last ones there cleaning up. Talk to the rangers. Give it some time. If nobody steps up then consider them stolen.

as pete and i were leaving i noticed that the people sitting in front of where we (and the chairs) were had a kid that pointed over at the chairs. i have no idea what he said, but that's what i saw. They were sitting under one of those tents and i had never seen them before.

i'm not pointing fingers at anybody, but greg is my friend and i want him to get his stuff back. maybe those people saw who might have grabbed them. Or maybe the "Knuckle Up" guy saw something. he was pretty close to that area.

No pics of the actual chairs, but they're blue camping chairs that look like this (minus the armrests):

and with the Subaru lettering printed across the backrest:

OneManArmy: Roo is not suggesting that they were stolen... he was merely replying to princesschels' suggestion that we ought to be paranoid about people stealing stuff even within the community and lock up our belongings. Personally, I don't believe that anyone here would maliciously rip another member off... if we had reason to believe this, we wouldn't have left them unattended in the first place.

When we came back from the drive up the mountain, there were still quite a few people around in the rosegarden, but mostly in the upper part near the BBQ area, where the clean-up was underway. The only person left in the lower part (where the chairs had been) was the "Knuckle Up" guy. He was packing up his wares and we helped him carry a few boxes to his truck. He had not seen anyone take the chairs either. There were no park rangers around yet (that we saw anyway), so I doubt it was them who grabbed them. We will check with the rangers though because there is the possibility that someone else might have turned them in because they thought they had been left behind or something.

Thanks to all for keeping an eye out!
