Perrin Exhaust...experienced help please

Hey. I just installed....well mostly justin installed a perrin catback on my car.

We're having a couple issues.

I wondering who has had this exhaust before and who's had it on otherwise stock exhaust.

Mine is knocking pretty bad. Especially on start up and shut down. Just wondering if kartboy exhaust hangers would fix this or if there is something else.

Any help would be awesome...I'd like to fix it tomorrow night.

GotBoost...I hear you're the man to talk to about this so let me know.

Gagan....I'm gonna need some exhaust gaskets and possibly some hangers if you have them and it'll fix it. Leaking right now.

Hangers will fix the knocking when everything is all aligned right.

yes, like Mike said, Longer exhaust hangers will solve your problem...I had to do the same thing with mine. Also, if you havent bought them already, make sure to get the polyurethane exhaust hangers, cuz they will hold the exhaust more solidly in place than the crappy stock rubber ones. But you MAY have to drill out the hole in the bushing for the exhaust hanger to go into, the holes are pretty small and the exhaust has a PHATTY hanger on it and wont fit. (atleast thats what I had to do)

Sorry for the delayed response....I dont always get online over the weekends.

Lemme know if you have any more questions.

Yea, I remember "that night", grrrrrrrr....LOL, <shrug> yea, I just got the notice last Thurs, and went to court Fri....so now Traffic school is in my near future dammit!
Thanks for the consolation...LOL, that was just a bad night all around....but atleast Charlie bought my Cheesesteak for me! w00t!

Anyways, The bushings I used were Whiteline I believe. They make 2 types...."short" and "long," get the "long" ones. I got mine from MPJ. I dont remember how much they were though....I'd guess about $20, but not 100% sure.

I pretty much aligned everything as best I could. Ted's right about the phatty exhaust hangers on that catback. They are huge. Its hitting the tunnel right after the midpipe.

Ray, I think the stock donut gasket will work to take car of the leak at the midpipe. Then you wouldn't need the other gasket that we put on.

hmmmm...I am trying to figure out who has exhaust hangers I can get.

I might have to have you pick them up today if we want to get on it right away. Unless I can pick them up in hayward and just get off at jackson instead of thornton coming over the bay.

I'll pick up some of that liquid gasket stuff just incase. Can't hurt anything to have it.

I'm more worried about stopping the knock than stopping the leak...though I want to stop them both so it's done.

Looks like I can leave here around 4:30. So if I don't have to make any stops I could be at your house sometime between 5:30-6.

Think we can knock the suspension out tonight?

Yea we should be able to. Although it did start raining here, but that didn't stop us yesterday. It should be no problem getting the suspension done. *crosses fingers*

Oh and btw, if you romp on the gas, that exhaust is gonna be loud. I heard you accelerating as you were pulling away, but once you shifted it stopped. So cruising should be good and hard accelerating should sound real nice.
