I would like to get a V1, but they are $400. That is more then double my car stereo!
I have a PNI Silver Bullet radar detector I picked up at Costco for $80 a couple years back. Works great for me, it's saved my *** a few times as well.
After my 3rd ticket, I decided it is cheaper to just not speed. Even if people around me are speeding, The highest I will go is 5-10MPH over the limit if that is what traffic is doing. If it's any faster, I move over.

Maybe next year I'll do the auto x thing. I still have some stuff I'd like to do to my suspension first.

Anyways. +1 for the V1. It worked well when I drove with Ed(EQ) in his car.

+1 for radar detectors in general. I've got an old Bell detector that works wonders even after 8+ years in dutiful service. It just saved my *** this weekend on the way home from the Reno Rally. Coming down just East of Auburn there was a smokey sitting on the shoulder around a mellow bend. Was doing about 85 - 90 just before that, but the detector went off, I slowed, and needless to say, my wallet and my insurance can thank the old detector.
If I had the extra $$, I'd definitely pick up a V1. The positive feedback and the arrows are what really do it for me.

hell, my $60 cobra from circuit city has saved my *** from CHP coming around a bend. If youre going 20 over....youre screwed no matter what, but if youre going 10 over and it goes off, you have enough time to slow to ~5 over without being obvious.
Don't forget either, you can be paced too so don't think a radar detector is plug n' play popo safety

that's the difference between something in the $60 cobra class and something in the $300-400 Passport/V1 class....TIME.
