Paintball question: on tippmann
#19
I've never had any complaints about tippmann. They generally stand behind their products very well, they last for near on forever (hence why a lot of places use them for rentals). Don't let a rental experience discourage you from one, when properly taken care of and used in a less brutal environment, they can last forever. I have a 98c with an e-bolt (turns it into an electro-pneumatic like the ION)... and it's just great. The kit I have is somewhat rare, so you might end up with a sear-tripper for auto settings (or a response trigger), neither of which are bad either.
The A-5 is a little bit of a gashog, but its loading mechanism is genius. I would not recommend using a RT with an A-5. The extra gas for the RT will be added on top of the extra gas needed for the loader.
The 98 is great if you have an electric hopper, which isn't hard to come by.
The flatline barrel idea is cool, but not really needed. If you really want that effect, get an apex barrel instead.

I have had my tippman 98 for 10 years now, I love mine! It is a good gun for recreational p-ball. There are easy mods to do, the A-5 is nice but I have the pre-custom 98 model and did everything to it you would want to do it. I get an avergae of 12 bps and I love using it out at Venture, Bear Creek, and in Watsonville as well
If you are planning on playing a lot of speedball then start off with an ION then, buy it used for $200 and make sure the reglator works right like stated before, that would require you to test it in a back yard or at a field.

What type of paintball are you looking to play? Are you just playing for ****s and giggles? Maybe once every 2 or 3 months?
So here's the thing if you are looking to play pretty much recball the tippmann may be your best bet. The ion wouldn't be too bad though. If you wanna play some recball and speedball the ion would be better. If you are looking to play more than maybe once a month I would go with something a bit more expensive. The Ion wouldn't be too bad because it is very upgradeable. The E tek ego is actually pretty cheap, you could find them for about $400. The PMR isn't that bad and is in the $200 range too. I've had guns that have ranged from $200 to over a grand. I also played tournaments for a while. Check out www.sacpaintball.com to see what some new and used guns sell for in the classifieds.

I donno how "in" this sport I am, so I don't think I will spend too much in the gun for now, so i'm looking for a decent one with good upgradeable options...

So...I donno, will keep looking...
