Angry Paint quotes are crazy

Ive been calling around for paint quotes for my RS hood I just got... Thats some crazy stuff, ive been getting quotes from $300 to $600 (Creative Kustoms was $450) so I guess im going to have to go ghetto and get it from Maaco since they are the only ones who actually quoted it for a price I can afford...

I need to buy my own paint tools and paint junk like this myself!

When it comes to paint, you get what you pay for. Pay Maaco prices, and you'll get Maaco quality - orange peel, poor durability and it probably won't last much longer than 2 years. You'd be better off saving up a month or two longer and just spending the money to have it done right.

That would require the "m" in front of that tag line instead of in the middle of the word for it to make sense. ^_^

I was going to post something about that, but it kept shutting my brain down every time I tried to comprehend the stupid and make a good post. So I let it pass

So true. Those paint quotes you are getting prolly include alot of things some paint places consider "extra" ... like time to cure in the clean room... yes an annoying habbit of some paint shops.

They also seem to skip certain obvious prep plans. Its just roughly sanded down with some fine grit, roughly masked, and gets paint slapped on it.

Alot of people don't seem to get that color matching, metalics, and clear coats cost more money.

*chuckles* I had a friend ask me what I thought of his 200 dollar paint job. I started off with "looks like it was stuck outside wet and got a ton of bugs on it", then pointed out a few more things like bad prep areas, underspray, poorly masked corners. The salesman said "hey its only a 200 dollar paint job" LOL

And nothing against Maaco..they're a great place to get your car painted ....

if you're looking to be as cheap as possible because you're selling the car.

That's fine if you think you'll have future products to spray. Those Wagner power sprayers work fine for around the house but not for painting cars. Leave the hood black for now and just save the money for getting your engine project running. Hoods can be removed quickly for painting.

If you aren't gonna get a decent paint job, just leave it black.
