Pace to run...

How quick of a pace do you think you'd have to keep to run 220 yards in 60 seconds.

I just found out I have to do an agility test this weekend and I have to run 220 yards in 60 seconds. I'm out of shape and I've been WAY sick the last couple weeks. I'm not sick anymore but my lungs are still not right. I coughed like crazy just changing the oil in the wife's car. (up down from under the car and what not)

But I CAN NOT push it off and have to do it so I have to try and complete the run. I haven't run more than 40 yards in probably 10 years. I've been trying to loose weight but wasn't planning on doing the run for at least another 4 or 5 weeks. Sounds like an easy deal... to run that but I'm scared because I haven't run in so damn long. I've cut about 20 pounds but was hoping to loose another 10 more before the run and hoping to cut another 30 by year end. I'd like to see around 200 pounds again. That would be rad. but I'll be stoked when I hit that 210-220 range as I haven't been down that low for 10 years.... since I got hit by a car.

Anyways... you runners. What kind of pace is that. I think it's on grass. I figure I used to be able to do it in like 30-35 seconds but that was 80 pounds and 10 years ago.

Looks like you'll have to run the speed of a ~11sec 40 yard sprint for a minute. That's not bad at all, but if you're out of shape, idk. It might be too late for conditioning bc you'll be really sore if you haven't ran in over a year.

Yeah I figure at this point going out and testing myself more than once or twice will be counter productive because I'll be sore for the test. I basically have to just go do it.

Yeah I was planning on starting to run a couple weeks ago but I got sick. Then I figured I'd push it off and give myself 4-6 weeks to train and I'd be o.k., it's not a HUGE distance you know and not really a full on sprint. But all that got tossed out the window this afternoon. Grrrrrr.

I was thinking it'd be about 3 steps a second.

If I'm thinking right, it'll be about 7.5mph for 60 seconds.

Find a treadmill, set it to 7.5mph to see how you do.

lol ya I dont know abt how many steps a second but I redid the math, keep pace at 10sec every 40 yards and you're good. Shouldnt be too bad. Maybe jog 110 yards asap (goal line to back of end zone) to see if you can do that in less than 30 sec.

220 yards is exactly 1/8th of a mile. Keep pace for a <8 minute mile for only a minute and you're good.

Dude, no worries...220 in 60 seconds...let's put it this way...that is 2 100 yard dashes. Back in highschool I would run the 300m hurtles in 50 seconds. I am also 15 years older, and way out of shape, but I can still do an 400m run in less than a minute...and that is ***** out, so a 200 in 2 minutes...that is a walk at best. If you need, I will pick you up on my back and still do it in half the time required.
I worked as firefighter in Wats, and the testing was crazy, 500 people for 5 spots, and the testing was way crazier than you are describing...I was 18 at the time, but if it came down to it today...I could still do it.
You will be fine...trust me, it's all about your brain.
If you need a training partner...hit me up...I could use some more exercise.
Good luck!
Edit:
If you are serious man, give me a pm...I am also coach the freshmen football team here, and I have a background in wrestling, and track...I will not beat you up training for this. But come and run with me for one day, and you will have the confidence to get it done on your own.
I want to see you do it man!

220 in 60 seconds should be pretty easy. even if you are not in great shape

like camshaft said 220 is liek 2 100yd dashes

avg person can run those in 15-20 seconds, you should have time to spare

i use to be able to run 400m in 54 seconds so if you even went half that speed you should be fine

barely over 2 football fields under 60 should be easy... at least for me. Back when I was in football in high school we used to do flying 40's... and seriously that was like 10 seconds up and down the field. Doing something double that... shouldn't be difficult.

Height, weight, BMI and body fat %?

Oh forgot to add, if it's a straight sprint (nothing else cardio vascular afterwards) then stay on your toes and never let your heel hit the ground. (should actually be done for all running, but you know when ur lazy ur whole foot hits the ground.)

"a 200 in 2 minutes" is practically walking. You had the distance & time correct at the beginning of your post. At any rate, I agree it shouldn't be too bad to run that "cold"... meaning w/ ZERO preparedness.
