Whoever is doing this is taking their sweet time when doing it. I think some good old motion sensor lights are probably going to be your best bet. It's one thing to vandalize under the cover of darkness, it's another to stand in the light.

Not to ask the obvious, but can you fence the front yard?
I have no issues with my neighbors except one where I called him out on him shooting his dog with a bb/airsoft gun and ever since then all he does is make snide remarks about my car when I'm cleaning or working on it etc.

where the hell do you live?

Fencing my yard will not protect our cars though, I could care less about a paintball or egg on the house wall. An easy way to explain is if I fenced my yard in, It would be like trying to protect your car out on the street. I live on the coastside near Half Moon Bay.

Get a BIG dog
Getting a big dog won't help. The garage is a detached area of the property and the space in front of the house, it wouldn't be solving the issue, although I've wanted a husky for the longest time.

I'm going to be looking at some of those systems there, also flooding sensor lights, just seeing what people have these days and what reviews are.

But an update, I guess the Sheriff Deputy did go next door and the mother freaked out, said she's tired of the police etc etc. Also said we were accusing them of doing it, which I talked to the Sheriff about a couple hours ago and he said all he asked was if they saw or heard anything. If they wanna sell me a fight bring it I have a cell phone for a reason, to make a 3 digit phone call for harassment. It's already reported so.... She came yelling at our front door while I was taking a nap woke up and this is what really ticked me off "You son is a firefighter he shouldn't be going around accusing people" Who said I did and there's reasoning behind this, now why did you son get kicked out of the explorer program and a Sheriff I know can throw his name out instantly, obviously a problem already existed and your son is the only kid around the block. The old people around me I'm already friends with and..... they probably can't kick that high.

Yeah - I think you know who did this... I doubt it will be an issue again.

What has worked here at my house is a motion detector that beeps ( and I mean BEEPS) inside the house. We're talking "wake me up" beeps. Not sure what brand it is. Nothing special that's for sure.
A year ago it helped prevent the hardtop on my Miata from being stolen, TWICE. In addition to that, we also have motion floodlights outside but that didn't seem to bother the robbers those two times. I don't think they knew someone was watching them.

I picturing a tanker with a hose put into this kid's front window at school if he's old enough to drive and has a car of his own?

Pay someone his age to kick his *** and don't get caught doing the payoff?

So he was kicked out of the explorers, which means he's at least some form of dysfunctional kid, but more importantly, a teenager. (Full of angst and stuffs.)

So I gotta ask, is he 18 yet and if not will his parents sign a release?

A safer idea than what I did and less risk to your job security. ~Caught our neighborhood punk-kid on camera pulling stuff on our belongings and dog* and got him to [EDIT]Physically Assault Me[/EDIT] and beat him down under the rule of self-defense.

*Which brings up, if this kid's willing to do all this what is he willing to do to an innocent pet. Our Dog still wants to tear this kid's throat out after all he did to us and her when she was younger.

A dog helps because even inside the house, they will usually let you know somone is outside. Up north, mine alerts when someone comes up the street let alone the driveway, and we are about 200ft from the road. We have motion detector lights out front too for night time. Any kind of warning system, buzzer light, etc... will also come with the negative of some falses (animals, stuff blowing in the wind, etc...), so they are only a benefit to the extent that you will check each time.

Cameras would do the trick IMO. You only need to catch the punks once.

Clarifying. Then knowing your teaching's are along the same as mine were let me say you might want to look closely into the heart of your enemy and briefly identify what he might be going through behind that front door of his. Parenting has been mentioned and most times this type of behavior stems from an issue inside the house he is struggling with and at least in some way is taking it out on a vehicle/property instead of others. The situation above I dealt with was that as well as two others I mention below, abusive parenting in some form.

Time to have a chat w/ the LEO about why he got booted from Explorers but first have the LEO have a chat w/ T.N. or E.G.'s Guidance team to see if that scenario exists.

Know what I mean, I've turned at least two other kids through that method rather than the route I ended up walking down w/ asshat-boy.

Just a thought, bend like a reed in the wind until it's time to snap back.Asshat boy aside, one of the other two regularly smiles as I pass while he's sitting there doing sundown stretches/meditation. (Same kid who kicked the crap out of his Mom and Dad's cars once a week **worse than the pic of your Dad's car**.)

I'm not gonna even do anything. If they wanna **** with my stuff go ahead, it just gives me more of a reason to call the sheriffs back out. Internally there is some household issues my mom went to give sheriff's info for them to talk to because were not dealing with them anymore, "I'm tired of cops and sheriffs" -The kid. So, obviously this isn't his first time. If I can get a hold of the guy I know I will straight up ask him. It's just they're all spread out now since the dept merge.

PM old guy. He's got a pretty sweet CCTV 24hr cameras. They alert him on his phone when the cameras detect any kind of movement and it streams live video! He says their relatively inexpensive. I'm might pick 1 or 2 up

Thanks...

If anyone has questions I can try and help out. If you really enjoy your stuff. It sucks but its come down to having to watch over your own stuff. Police are only going to take a report now days unless its a hot call. Other words.. Not do ****.

Now say you have a video, You can report it and say you have a video. Police will like this and will come out to play. Or you can go on your own.
But its also a piece of mind. I can be anywhere and watch my home.

Cheap systems start @ $350 and go up. Good systems start around $550
You need to figure out if your going this route to only scare away. Or to catch someone.
This is a list to look at.

4 cam +
27 ifr leds
field of view
Night time - B&W or Color
cam resolution 480 /720 lines
wireless/hardwire
500gb DVR
internet conect
smart phone app
Alarm outputs
TV outputs
Remote control

----------------------------
For a apartment.
  • 4 cam,
  • wireless
  • 500gb
  • hook up to computer or TV screen

For a home at least
  • 8 cams,
  • pan/zoom IP cam
  • 500gb,
  • 27+ifr leds
  • 60 feet viewing
  • lock box DVR and cable to HDMI TV.

Wireless cam in driveway/carport
2nd cam covering the front yard and driveway cam.
Then place another cam at back yard and front door area

The biggest thing is not to go cheap in the cameras. All the DVRs are the same and all the cameras for the most work on all systems. They are simple RCA systems.
