Outside the House Security Suggestions (Motion sensor lighting, Cameras, ETC)

I'm tired of our house getting ****ed with.

A few years back
-Eggs thrown
-Nails and cones left around my 4Runner
-Rear House Doors Glued

Past Year
(My Car)
-Fire Structure Helmet Stolen
-Some form of Feces in my door handles
-BB Gun or similar type of round into my windshield

Last Night
-Dad's Camry, rear fender kicked in badly
-Mom's volvo has black streaks looks like failed attempts to kick in

All of these have been reported w/SMC Sheriffs, which I already know half of through the years and fire dept, so a couple of them know the flow here. Looking for suggestions on what people have and such, but the thing is we have to keep it on a budget, if anyone's running a camera what kinda do you have? Open to any suggestions, were not looking for something extravagant like gating the entire house in stuff like that. Seems like no one else around was struck last night so we can only assume it's aimed for us. The deputy and I were able to pull a full footprint from a picture even.

The cameras are good for only AFTER the fact as long as you can get a face on it, sensor lights can help with prevention.

Also things to consider, where our driveway is, it's a detached unit that's a good 100ft away, we have a front area which is a good 20 ft to the street.

Get a dog. Best early warning detection system there is. Sensor lights and cameras can be defeated pretty easily.

Even if we get a dog we have a separate part of the house, that would include driveway and a studio above with a tenant, plus theres a foot 20ft in front of our house before the street. It's wide open game, unless we kept a dog outside.

One of my buddies recommends the Grandstream IP Video Surveillance stuff.

I've got a set of old security camera's that I'm about to plug into a Security DVR which I got from Amazon. I'll let you know how that goes.

Damn son did you happen to **** someone off over the years? Like did someone catch you doing something to **** you off and they kept tabs on your house?

What I would do is set up some laser pointers outside your house on high mounting points (w/e color you want) and have them motorized, moving in one direction or two if you can.

Add or remove more or less lasers to your liking.

No one will **** with your **** if it looks like that.

With this happening consistently, sounds like you need to nicer to your neighbors

Whoever is doing this is taking their sweet time when doing it. I think some good old motion sensor lights are probably going to be your best bet. It's one thing to vandalize under the cover of darkness, it's another to stand in the light.

Not to ask the obvious, but can you fence the front yard?

You can record, my friend's dad just did this after his cars got broken into in Santa Clara.

He also has some REALLY, REALLY bright lights that come on when the motion sensors are tripped.

Leave some spent shotgun shells randomly around the yard. Even people with little brains get the hint.

Get a BIG dog

Look into costco, they have a few setups there and you can always return them if they don't work out. Also look for a LED, sensor light. My neighbor has one and it's brighter than any thing I've seen out there.

Warn your neighbors prior to use, but I think it will get the point across.
