OT: A Real Bobcat in the Flesh

Since most of you all know I live in the mountains, we have a great deal of wildlife up here. So on my way back from getting my car washed and taking photos by the lake we live by (also updated on my website http://kurleedaddee.50megs.com/ ), I was leisurely driving up my one lane private road to my house. I come around a bend, and I see what looks like a very large cat slowly make its way into the bushes and behind a large stump. I thought to myself, that has to be a baby bobcat or mountain lion. So I parked my car a little bit up the hill, got out and quietly made my way down the hill near where I saw the KITTY. I snapped these photos before the bobcat noticed me. But as soon as it did, it hightailed down the hillside. That was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I have never seen a feline predator up close and personal before.

whoa that's frickin awesome. can you estimate how big it was? its hard to gauge size from that pic. although i hate housecats, wild cats (leopards, jaguars, panthers, tigers, cheetahs, etc.) are the absolute ish. can't get enough discovery channel on those guys. their strength and athleticism is absolutely mind boggling.

I worked side by side with feline preditors for two summers Well, kinda but not really, I worked at Marine world as a host and had to see all the shows all the time, and the Wildlife theature was always my favorite due to all the different interesting animals they brought out. I got pretty darn close to the chetah almost every day, LOL!

It was about one and a half times the size of a regular housecat. Maybe it was a baby? I don't know since I never have seen a wild cat like this in the wild before. I am still totally stoked on seeing it and snapping so many photos before it saw me.

ROTLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's funny.

No, but if THIS cat puked on my car, you would probably see whole skeletons of small furry animals.

No, they aren't too big. We used to shoot them where I am from Madera County, in the Sierra Nevada's. The state fish and game trapper used to kill them too. They eat sheep, small dogs, and cats.

One time my dog treed a Mountain Lion. I did not even realize it until I was directly under it. It was pretty scary! Cougars are man eaters, so it shook me up pretty good.

Those are pretty good photos...usually they are gone in an instant!

your dog chased a freakin mountain lion into a tree?!?!! that poor thing must have gotten so much crap from it's friends when it got home!!! personally, i wouldn't be afraid of anything that's scared of any dog other than a pitbull.

At the time, my dog was a Catahoula Leopard. They are a rare Louisiana cow dog. They are vicious.

That cat was huge...probably around 100 Lbs.. I was only around 11 or 12. When it growled, it soundedlike a woman screaming.

I still can't believe that the dude got the shots seen above. That is like National Geographic quality photograpgy.

You know how rare it is to see a wild cat or take a picture. In october I was working at yosemite and to of my guy saw a mountain lion they came running down the hill. when we told the rangers they closed down the area while they made sure it was gone. I know I dont want to **** off a 150lb cat

You're damn right about that. Those things would tear the most athletic human in the world to shreds then carry the carcass 20 feet up into a tree using only its jaws to finish the rest of it off.
