Question origin of money for your car?

hey guys i was just wondering how you guys attach your problems for digging up money for your baby...the car. i was planning to get an engine swap at LIC and am just straight saving money? are you guys finding money other ways that might be faster? like borrow money from your folks, pulling a loan or just putting it on a card with the lowest apr? or you guys just saving too? thanks

I bought a wrecked '88 Subaru RX, parted it out and made a pretty decent profit off of it. That paid my down payment. Then I sold my other '88 RX, and that covered a few months of car payments. The whole time I was working 2 jobs, which didn't hurt either, but now I'm in school and owe my parents for the last 2 months of car payments. I just go back to work at my old job when I go home over breaks, and pay them back. It's a PITA.

work and investment... my company has a stock purchase program where I can put up to 10% of my salary for the six months. at the end of the six month, they look at the stock value at the begining of the six months and at the end of the six months. Then take the lowest of the two, and I can buy stocks with the money I put in during the past six months at 85% of the lowest price. So I have a minimum 15% gain on this investment.

I am also working my *** off to hope for a nice pay raise or promotion next year... It's a long and PAINFUL process. But I don't want to borrow money from people I know or lending institutes. That's why I still don't have a subie yet Well, I used to, not anymore...

My advise is, save and/or invest, don't borrow... You want to enjoy what you have and not having to worry about paying back. Sucks to say, but cars depreciate, so you loose out in a long run. Good luck!

I dont know anyone around here, in fact any other shop in the country, that has as much experience with conversions as LIC, why do you think Sport Compact Car went to them for their tech article on EJ swaps

also they will charge you ALOT less than a regular garage that will just charge you book rate!

so everyone just saves their money in their piggy bank huh?? thats a kinda whack cause the car is almost paid off, the 100,000 mile warranty is just about up, so im runny out of excuses not to upgrade except for the lack of funds...
