Open Carry
Hey I know a group of i-clubbers are also gun enthusiast and I was wondering if any of you guys/gals open carry. If so have you had any issues with police officers over the matter. As for the LEOs here on i-club whats your take on the matter. I know this has the potential to spark a heated debate about constitutional rights but i feel like its a good topic to be debated. It's been in the news lately and I'm curious what others think about it.

Its dumb for the simple fact it is unloaded..and openly carried.
Its nice to do it because you can, but I think you look silly, as well as look like a great robbery target, when doing so.

ALl these laws are anti-american. The purpose of the 2nd amendment was to prevent government or any group of people the ability of taking over everything by force. With a weapon at least you can defend yourself and band to fight against corruption.
The founding fathers knew Britain tried to do this to the 13 colonies and made a LAW to prevent this from occurring, yet so many loopholes, it's really ridiculous. Anything taking away weapons + ammo, or tracing, this open carry, etc. is a stupid waste of time.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If someone wants you dead, they'll do it, guns make it easier, but in no means do these gun laws ever protect the innocent, as they are abiding by the laws already.

it's not a loophole.
back in the 60s, the black panthers stormed the calif capitol building with loaded firearms.
which, btw WAS legal up until then.
the law was, as long as the firearm WAS NOT concealed, you were good to go.
well.. the BP scared the crap out of the politicians so they rewrote the law to say it has to be UNLOADED to open carry.
it's been in the books ever since.
now, i'm pretty sure the OP saw the KTVU piece last nite about the folks UOC (unloaded open carrying) in the south bay.
right now, the biggest thing is to avoid 1000 feet of schools and you are generally good to go. there are other details, but right now, as long as the firearm is in the open and UNLOADED, the law is on your side.
now, this comment is due to the fact, when the UOC movement start to get rolling, the LE community was not prepared to take 911 calls about "man with a gun"...
fortunately, MR LAW ABIDING CITIZEN has the law on his side. more and more LE agencies are passing memos to their rank and file.
granted, when you UOC and the cops get that 911 call, be prepared to be surround by multiple units. treated like a CRIMINAL, then find out that you have an unloaded firearm that is not concealed...
best this is to study the laws. contact your local LE agency. and visit www.calguns.net to the latest info on the UOC movement.
btw, CONCEALED carrying, even if unloaded is against the law, unless you have the proper license...

If you have $10k set aside for legal fees and want to 'fight the man', by all means go for it.

It's called defending your 2a rights, why would you be so willing to just give up rights?
Op: I open carry once in a while, but right now its been suggested by the legal minds over at Calguns that no one open carry, tell February when the SCOTUS make their decision on the Chicago case.

I beleive that the fact that is a right doesn't mean you have to show it off. I think it's provocative and if I see someone carrying a gun, I am getting the hell outa there. How do I know that gun is not loaded, and the person carrying it is not a maniac. This a life and death matter.
If you are so adament at defending your right, go to East LA and start shouting latino racial slurs ( I don't know an equivalent in the bay area, since i just moved here)...let's see how proud of your ammendment right you are (in this case the First)...
