Talk Talk: It's My Life
Life's What You Make It
Toyah: (Anything off of Anthem)
Police: Invisible Sun
Peter Gabriel: We Do What We're Told
Talking Heads: Burning Down The House
REM: Turn You Inside-Out
The 80's music was one of the funniest things about GTA Vice City. Totally Miami Vice era.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do after that, and I'm not sure how I'm going to get them to wear the pants out in public, but I'm still working on the plan. Er...anyway...back on topic:

Stevie Ray Vaughn- Say What
in fact anything from SRV, the man ROCKED!
The Clash- Charlie Don't Surf
Sandanista is their masterwork, but they did a lot of good stuff back then
Deep Purple- Perfect Strangers
Far and away the come-back album of the decade, the original line-up- stronger than ever
U2- Red Hill Mining Town
The Joshua Tree was an awesome album all around, U2 has really stood the test of time- both as a band as well as their early work.
Pink Floyd- One Slip
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Knock me Down
Mother's Milk really broke them out to the big time, everything they've done since is lame by comparison
ZZ top- Under Pressure
I think I need to go buy a copy of Eliminator, solid grooves from the the biggest little blues band from Texas
Motorhead- Ace of Spades
What can you say? Lemme Killmeister redefined hard rock and set the bar- (well, at least his vocal mic) a bit higher than it ever was before
In more of a mellow Marin county vein;
Robert Hunter- Amagamalin Street
A little known treasure from the Dead's lyricist
Grateul Dead- Althea
Jerry's timeless ode to the monkey on his back
Looking back through my collection I seem to have a lot more from the 70's and 90's, (for the most part, I think music in the 80's kind of sucked)

Both you and Lorry have added a few that I thought were worthy of mention...
Here's a couple more:
Primus: Frizzle fry.
Mostly a 90s band, but they got started here in the bay back in the late 80s.
X: Los Angeles
Just a personal fave... consider also all the other early punk bands; Fear, The Minute Men, Black Flag... even the Sex Pistols, if you care for that stuff.
The Pogues: The Graveside of Killcullin.
Over in Ireland, one of my favorite bands took the punk idea, mixed it with traditional Irish folk music, got the ugliest singer in music history, and voila...
King Crimson: Discipline.
they still play half this album in concert.
Dire Straits: Brothers In Arms.
There must be lots of others... who's got some more?

well the eighties isn't quite old enough for me so some of of these are technically from the seventies when alot of the good music from the sixties and eighties actually was made. There was just that mythical abyss in the middle. And I don't remember track titles so well because I'm so old I'm going dopey or just lazy, so some of these are albums and some are just band name.
Wire - Chairs Missing
Wire - 154
Ultravox - Vienna
XRaySpex - Oh Bondage up Yours
Buzzcocks -
Souixsie and the Banshees -
Bauhaus -
Ian Dury and Blockheads - New Boots and Panties
Talking heads - Burning Down the House etc. etc.
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London
ZZ Top - She's got Legs; Sharp Dressed Man
Timbuk3 - Future is so bright I gotta wear shades; Can't get to Heaven on Roller Skates (the rest of the album sucks)
Repo Man - the soundtrack
Caberet Voltaire - Nag Nag Nag - not sure why I like that
Human League - Being Boiled (1st single before they were famous)
Pet Shop Boys - West End girls
Eurythmics - Sweet dreams; etc. etc.
Shriekback - Go Bang
Devo - whip it etc.
Rolling Stones - Tatoo You
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
C&C Dance Factory - Things that make you go hmm
That'll have to do

I forgot Mortohead but they were definately 70s for me. At least I saw them in the seventies twice. Once as the support band for Hawkwind and once as the headliner. Lemmy previously played bass for Hawkwind. Story is their bassist didn't show one time and they asked the audience if anyone know how to play bass. Lemmy volunteered. They said ok, " go in E" and he's been going in "E" ever since

and also find...
Sex Dwarf - Soft Cell
Possibly the greatest song ever made about a mans unhealthy obsession with his midget sex slave
while we're on the subject, one that dear to my heart...
Little Girls - Oingo Boingo
They don't ask me questions
They don't want to scold me
They don't look for answers
They just want to hold me
Somehow they could get away with playing songs like this on mainstream radio back in the eighties
