But you have to look at what the 49ers had as receivers... which I'm sure they'll address next year.
Morgan - Hurt
Ginn - Hurt
Crabtree - He still sleepin'? One catch really?
Williams - ... everyone knows this one already.
Edwards - Bust
Swain - Who are you again?
49ers will pick up a baller in the WR position next year... and probably another DE/Speed Rushing LB.
In any case, I'm happy for the 49ers. Definitely showed us that excellence is back, and we should expect it.

In addition, 1-13 on 3rd down conversions CANNOT fly in an NFC Championship game.

It's one thing to get a beat down. It's a whole another story to give the game away. The bigger mistake by Williams was the put return fumble off his knee. He had no business being that close if he wasn't going to catch the ball.
3rd down conversation was a team issue. Crabby?! hello...
There was at least two interception opportunities that they were making all year until yesterday. One of these or the William punt return was the difference.

It sure looked like the niners were playing conservative football with a 4 point lead. No team should ever play conservatively with a 4 point lead. Manning had 3 chances to lead a game winning victory once the clock got under 4 minutes. That means the niners defense was gonna get tired. It's a testament to their defense that they held him in check and a special teams screw up ended it.

I didnt agree with a lot of playcalling last night and as for the 1-13 conversion, we dont have a Victor Cruz on our team. The guy single handedly took the ball down the field with manning multiple times while we couldnt find anyone open. I give all the credit to their secondary.
Wish we would've ran the ball more because it looked to be working. Oh well. Next year!

Even though Alex Smith has improved since last year, He still needs some training or something. He can't throw outside the pocket or during a scramble or anything, he usually messes up when he gets uncomfortable and we can't deliver the ball down the field. When he is comfortable and in the pocket and has time to throw, he is pretty good which is great. Unfortunately that wasn't really the case tonight
